Position summary

The Company

Astra's mission is to improve life on Earth from space by creating a healthier and more connected planet. Astra delivered its first commercial payload into Earth orbit in 2021, making it the fastest company in history to reach this milestone, just five years after being founded in 2016. By achieving monthly, weekly, then daily launches, we'll create the infrastructure services our customers need in space to build a healthier and more connected planet. If you're excited by a sense of possibility, the chance to innovate, and make a difference here on Earth, we think you should work here too.

The Team

We are the Program Management Team. We give Astra a competitive edge by driving the execution of engineering, manufacturing, test and launch efforts at a market-leading pace. We leverage the best of traditional program management techniques and agile principles. We provide focus through radical prioritization. We look beyond the horizon to identify and thwart threats before they become problems. We continuously improve our human-centered processes in order to drive the right decisions with the right data at the right time.

The Opportunity

Astra designs nearly every component of an orbital launch system, including rocket engines, stage structures, fluid systems, avionics, flight and ground software; all of the supporting infrastructure such as a portable rocket launcher, mission control, and dozens of test stands; and the software that powers it all. Astra manufactures most of the components used to produce its rockets, and integrates, tests, and launches rockets at its facilities.

As a Technical Program Manager, Hardware, you will own timely delivery of our products to keep us on track for building the next generations of our orbital launch system.  You’ll work hand in hand with Engineering leads, Product Managers, Manufacturing leads and many other stakeholders to define schedules, dependencies, risks, and the critical path, and then manage priorities, trade-offs, integration points, and other cross-team coordination.  You will facilitate major program decisions, communicate program status and priorities to a range of stakeholders across the company, and also contribute to the development of longer-term roadmaps in collaboration with the Product Management team.

Overall, you will be a fearless organizer and excellent leader, serving as the glue holding together our complex, multi-disciplinary product development effort as we work towards our vision of daily space delivery.
