You will be part of the Europe and Middle East (EME) legal team which collaborates across seventeen distinct legal jurisdictions to provide an experience that simultaneously reflects consistency across Europe. Our EME team is famous for its rich knowledge-sharing and supportive teamwork. You will have the ability to work remotely and from our office in Madrid to meet the local legal team and your contacts in person. Together we do what matters.
Skills and experiences
• Strong academic credentials and admitted to practice law in Spain or Portugal.
• 5+ years of experience as an attorney/legal counsel, with at least 2 years experience of working in a corporate
legal department (experience in the IT industry is a plus).
• Excellent judgment, ability to prioritize and make decisions. Ability to meet deadlines with short time frames.
• Ability to work independently with some supervision and to escalate issues in a timely manner for resolution.
• Superior communication skills, particularly with respect to active listening to and integrating information from
various sources quickly and communicating legal advice in a practical form in a business context.
• Customer Service - including managing expectations of senior-level stakeholders regarding difficult or sensitive
issues.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing and speaking) and ability to negotiate contracts in Spanish and English.
Language skills in other European languages and/or a second legal, business or technical degree are a plus.

What you'll do
• You will also help Delivery and Business leadership to manage existing contracts with clients, requiring a solid
understanding of legal obligations and their implications, along with a command of principled negotiation.
• Stay abreast of legal developments affecting Avanade, our clients and industries and synthesize the information
to incorporate it into companies transactional practices.
• Strategize with Avanade executives regarding legal issues that affect the company -Develop in-depth subject
matter expertise in legal to benefit the business.
• Resolve issues and disputes, minimize potential for litigation and foster protection of Avanade's reputation - Counsel, advise and
educate company employees in regard to legal and risk management issues, representing Avanade and its interests.
• Support the company's strategy and priorities in the adoption of artificial intelligence, in order to minimize
risks and negotiate balanced agreements with clients.
• Develop/support internal guidelines, toolkits, and packaged knowledge on various legal and business issues.
• Assist business lines management, business development executives and contract coordinators in clarifying and
balancing risk and reward in relation to the service offerings and individual customer arrangements, and
mitigating risk to protect the company's assets and profitability.
