Job Description:
Responsible for performing complex analysis and is engaged in the development of modeling that maximizes profits and asset growth and minimizes credit and operating losses and other risk exposures. Provides analytical support on various product strategies to ensure company goals are met. Coordinates the production of performance reports for Senior Management. Reviews and analyzes trends in current population distributions and recommends strategies. May participate in or develop complex program models to extract data and use databases to provide statistical and financial modelling.
Effective credit risk reporting is critical to provide a clear understanding of current and emerging risks at Bank of America, and to proactively manage risk across the enterprise. The Credit Risk Analytics and Reporting team sits within Enterprise Credit Risk and is responsible for producing reports, dashboards and analysis used to identify, monitor and manage credit risk across Bank of America. All this ensures the bank can deliver responsible growth within our risk framework. The Traded Products team develops, executes and enhances a suite of reports that enables our risk and business partners to manage counterparty credit risk. Reporting for Traded Products partners with Credit Risk, Market Risk and Enterprise Credit in support of both internal limit and portfolio management as well as regulatory reporting.
The Risk Analysis Specialist will use their business and technical knowledge to work on multiple reports at various stages of the lifecycle – building new reports, adding enhancements, validating existing reports and identifying opportunities for consolidation and elimination. They will be responsible for delivering these reports, accurately and as scheduled. The team is focused on automation and uses business intelligence tools such as Tableau. The successful candidate will show familiarity with SQL and building reports, as well as a process improvement mindset.
The team also supports the wider risk organization by providing timely ad-hoc data and analysis, such as in response to market or geo-political events. The Risk Analysis Specialist will be expected to respond to requests for information from both regulators and business users. They will ask pertinent, clarifying questions, identify the relevant data needed to satisfy the request and present the information to the requester in a clear and concise manner. They should be capable of working with a good degree of autonomy.
We strive for best practice in reporting and data management. The Risk Analysis Specialist should set themselves a high standard in terms of reporting governance, documentation and controls.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 2+ years of relevant experience, ideally within credit risk or market risk
• Experienced using SQL and relational database
• Strong Excel skills
• Advanced analytical skills that demonstrate ability to learn how to navigate systems, access data, reconcile numbers from different sources, identify discrepancies and understand drivers of change within data
• Capacity to quickly assimilate complex information and provide analysis tailored to suit the audience
• Familiar with data management and governance such as BCBS 239 or SOX controls
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical business teams
• Displays intellectual curiosity to challenge the status quo and tackle challenging problems
Desired Skills and Experience:
• Experience building reporting for Managing Directors
• Counterparty Credit Risk and/or Traded Products experience
• Knowledge of Bank of America systems – Credit Studio and CRP (Credit Risk Platform)
• Knowledge of Zinc/Quartz
• Proficient using one or more of Tableau, Microsoft SSRS and Alteryx
