    Job Description Summary

    As Associate Director, International Tax, you will play a critical role in the international tax function at BD. You will work directly with the Vice President, International Tax and other members of the Tax Department on US international compliance, quarterly and year end provision computations, international tax planning, and other special projects.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Prepare and review significant portions of the Company’s US international tax compliance obligations (Forms 8858, 5471, 5472, 8990, 8991, 8992, 8993, 8832, 8023, 8883, whitepaper statements, etc.).  

    • Participate in quarterly forecasting and year end provision process with respect to the computation of GILTI, Subpart F, BEAT, 163(j), FDII, Foreign Source Income, Foreign Tax Credit Limitation, etc. 

    • Reseach technical US international tax issues. 

    • Work directly with the Vice President, International Tax on tax planning initiatives and special projects (legal entity rationalization, business restructurings, third-party and intercompany financing of operations, etc.)

    • Work with other members of the International Tax team and stakeholders in the Treasury group and business units on repatriation and redeployment of cash. 

    • Participate in M&A projects as needed. 

    • Assist in modeling the US international tax impact of proposed tax planning ideas, potential US and non-US audit settlements, etc. 

    • Identify and implement process improvements. 

    • Stay up to date on US and non-US legislative developments and understand their potential impact to the Company. 

    • Assist the Vice President, International Tax in coordinating non-US income tax audits and responding to IDRs with respect to the international components of US income tax audits. 

    About you: To be successful in this role, you require:

    • Minimum 6 years relevant experience. 

    • Minimum bachelor's degree in accounting; Masters in Tax/JD/LLM preferred. 

    • Proven industrious work ethic, a positive attitude, and willingness to jump into projects and “run with them”.  

    • Eagerness to help the team, even on workstreams that might not be strictly within the purview of international tax. 

    • Enthusiasm for learning, collaborating, and knowledge sharing. 

    • Ability to manage multiple high-level processes/functions concurrently and to think creatively in order to address sophisticated planning issues and to facilitate problem solving. 

    • Requires a mastery of complex US international tax rules, a thorough working knowledge of the US consolidated tax regime, and a solid foundation in the principals of ASC 740 (formerly FAS 109), and a working knowledge of US Section 482 principals. A working knowledge of prevalent foreign tax regimes is also needed. 

    • Ability to research and interpret complex US and non-US tax rules. 

    • Requires strong business partnering skills including the ability to develop strong working relationships with BD finance and business colleagues around the world, including at the highest levels of BD's management. 

    • Must have strong oral and written communication capabilities, including the ability to relate tax concepts to non-tax colleagues. 

    • Must be able to successfully build effective relationships with external advisors 

    • Proven ability to lead or support strategic initiatives from inception, planning and execution to review by external auditors and taxing authorities. 

    • CorpTax experience a plus.
