Job Description Summary

BD is revolutionizing single-cell biology through the invention and application of technologies like BD Rhapsody™ and BD™ AbSeq.

The successful candidate will work closely with a team of software developers, bioinformatics scientists, and molecular biologists in this exciting and fast-paced field. This position will be part of the BD European Single Cell Solutions team to empower the delivery of single-cell analysis pipelines to our growing customer base. These complex pipelines are the tools that enable groundbreaking research into areas like immunology, cancer profiling, cell therapy, and stem cell biology. Success requires the ability to troubleshoot software problems, to work successfully in teams, and a strong focus on making our customers successful.

This position is remote-based, supporting all of Europe and will require about 20% travel.

Our vision for Biosciences at BD

BD Biosciences (BDB) is a leading provider of high-quality flow cytometry and single-cell genomics solutions, scientific research and clinical laboratories. Here, we are leading the way by developing the best technologies that have the ability to look closer at the details of cells and diseases.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to cross-functional teams and work directly with scientists and engineers to understand computational and analytic needs
  • Troubleshoot problems, address issues, and answer questions from internal users, collaborators, and customers
  • Data analysis of high-throughput -omics data and presentation of results to collaborators with a diverse group of backgrounds
  • Frequent interactions with internal and external collaborators
  • Test, deploy, automate, run, and support next-generation sequencing & flow analysis pipelines
  • Benchmark and evaluate pipeline performance, suggest, and implement improvements
  • Produce technical content and materials for internal and external users of our existing and new products

About you

Required Skills

  • Masters in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related fields, Industry experience or https://Ph.D. is a plus
  • A dynamic personality with a passion for innovation and problem-solving and willingness to apply core areas of knowledge to new areas of interest
  • Previous experiences in analysis of high-throughput -omics data
  • Experience implementing or running next-generation sequencing and or flow data analysis pipelines,
  • Integrating datasets from different sites and databases
  • Familiar with Linux environment and working proficiency in R/Python
  • Strong passion for visual analytics and data science
  • Able to prioritize and deliver results with a high emphasis on quality, technical rigor, and attention to detail
  • Fluency in English (spoken & written)

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with any of the following: docker, common workflow language (CWL), Seven Bridges, Arvados, AWS
  • Experience with analysis of flow data including FlowJo
