    Project Overview:

    Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. Bechtel will design and build Phase 1 of the Ohio One project, a total of 2.5 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms. Construction will require as much steel as eight Eiffel Towers and as much concrete as the tallest skyscrapers. Bechtel will strengthen future economic development in the region by partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline.

    Job Summary:

    The Welding Field Engineer duties include interpreting welding design drawings and specifications, field verification of materials, welder testing and heat treat/stress relief, and aiding welding personnel as required. This position is not considered the design authority for the project, but only to enforce welding construction per design**.** Responsible for the performance of a broad range of construction quality control activities within an assigned area of responsibility. Responsible for implementation of quality control procedures and policies to ensure field activities conform to project specifications. Receives technical and operational direction from on-site supervising quality control engineer or other assigned supervising manager. Provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate lead field welding engineer and technical and clerical support staff, as assigned. #LI-BH1

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Directs activities of subordinate quality control engineers, and other inspection personnel, as assigned.

    • Responsible for construction quality control program activities, such as development and implementation of inspection plans, within an assigned area of responsibility.

    • Determines requirements for, and directs preparation of, technical and administrative documents and reports.

    • Within assigned area, monitors the performance and overall progress of construction inspections to ensure adherence to the field quality control program.

    • Maintains quality control records in support of activities in the assigned area of responsibility.

    • Implements procedures and policies established by others and develops procedures, as required, for the performance of assigned functions.

    • Monitors activities of assigned subcontractors to ensure construction, material and installation comply with project specifications and quality control criteria.

    • Ensures continuous, progressive training of assigned subordinate personnel.

    • Performs annual reviews of subordinate personnel and participates in development plans.

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

    Required Knowledge and Skills:

    • Must be capable of taking and passing NDE Level II VT certifications, additional NDE Certs are preferred PT, MT, and LT (Vac Box) certifications.

    • Construction experience assigned to a construction site.

    • Experience managing technical services subcontracts.

    • Experience on an LNG construction site especially along the U.S. Gulf Coast.

    • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken.

    • Advanced knowledge and/or certifications in SMAW / GTAW / GMAW / FCAW. Advanced knowledge of Piping Design Drawings/Specifications and TEAMWorks/WITS.

    • Intermediate understanding of Preheat/Post weld heat treatment of equipment and consumables.

    • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.

    • Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.

    • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications. Excellent problem-solving ability.
