    About this role

    Team Overview

    Do you want to be part of a team who is passionate about helping our client gain insights into their investment performance? We are looking for a member of the Performance Measurement & Attribution –Japan team based in Tokyo.

    We support our partners in investment, risk, strategy, client reporting and client business teams investigate complicated issues and deliver non-standard analysis on performance and attribution using BlackRock attribution tools. We cover a variety of portfolios including active and passive strategies for fixed income, equity, multi-asset products and currency strategies. We also work closely with the different businesses to find opportunities to improve our performance analytics capabilities and optimize the delivery of performance content.

    You should be a specialist in performance analysis who can proactively take on initiatives, completing the tasks independently with minimal guidance or supervision. You should also have a can-do spirit and be comfortable in rolling up your sleeves to analysis and explain findings to our partners when the need arises. You must be well-organized and can balance multiple priorities across different partners in the region.

    Role Responsibility

    • Be the subject matter authority in the area of performance analysis

    • Provide insight into standards of performance measurement and attribution analysis to internal and external partners.

    • Engage and establish relationships with our partners and collaborate to provide the top-quality analysis for our clients. Explain sophisticated performance analysis in simple language.

    • Develop detailed understanding of various attribution solutions used by the team and their analytical outputs and suggest ideas to improve the quality of the analysis.

    • Find opportunities for process and/or analysis improvement areas with the use of technology.

    • Full understanding of the BlackRock’s products and strategies and look to gain greater knowledge from partnering with other team members.

    Experience / Skill

    • Experience in financial / asset management industry or in a related field is preferred  

    • Experienced in handling large volume of data, investigating and interpreting findings from the data

    • Work effectively with others in a team environment with diverse approaches and thinking styles

    • Demonstrate passion for understanding sophisticated problems, breakdown the problem into its constituent parts and to develop steps towards a solution.

    • Demonstrate excellent communication (verbal and written) skills and able to confidently explain complicated concepts in logical and simple languages.

    • Ability to operate in a fast paced and dynamic environment with changing demands, and to handle workload of concurrent priorities.

    • Possess technical skills such as SQL, Unix, python, VBA, and the ability to debug technical issues.

    • Certifications such as the CFA, CAIA, and FRM are a plus.

    • Language: business level Japanese & business level English
