Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T) is seeking an Aerodynamic Stability and Control Engineer (Level 2) to join our team in Huntington Beach, California.
As an Aerodynamic Stability and Control Engineer, you will perform aerodynamic stability & control design and analysis of flight vehicles to ensure that the vehicle meets stability, trim, control authority, and flying qualities requirements. You will be a key contributor to improving existing and developing new technologies, tools, and processes to enhance technology readiness, improve vehicle performance, and reduce cycle time and cost.
Develop, coordinate and/or conduct Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), wind tunnel tests, simulation studies, and flight tests to meet test objectives using established processes
Analyze the data from these tests to assess vehicle stability & control characteristics and to produce six degree of freedom simulation models of the vehicle
Support qualification and certification processes of the aerodynamic stability & control characteristics of flight vehicles
Assists with the design and analysis of aerodynamic/aerothermodynamic flight vehicles to ensure that requirements are met
Supports the development of new and improving existing technologies, tools and processes to enhance technology readiness, improve vehicle performance and reduce cycle time and cost
Assists with development of test requirements (e.g., wind tunnel, ground, flight, accident and incident and product support testing of aerodynamics or aeroheating/thermal characteristics) of flight vehicles
Assist in coaching and training others in all of the above areas
This position allows for some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Experience in Matlab/Simulink
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Master's degree preferred
Wind tunnel testing experience
C programming experience
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
