The Boeing Company is looking for a results driven Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML) Senior Manager based out of Charleston, SC or Seattle, WA or Arlington, VA, to lead a team of highly talented data scientists and data science managers in building the next generation AI & ML products and services.

As the senior manager of AI & ML, you will have the chance to lead the building of advanced predictive models and launch them into production, learn and apply modern machine learning techniques and lead AI and ML in a way that drives impact across the Boeing enterprise and to our global airline and government customers. Additionally, you will be working directly with customers and business leaders to scope problems, clearly communicate results, and address any concerns in terms that can be understood by non-technical community of stakeholders. Primary Responsibilities include:

• Drive the design, development and deployment of customer-facing products and services.
• Develop long term partnerships with our customers and partners to define and execute the strategy, roadmap, and direction for the applied data science function at the enterprise level.
• Define and drive business priorities to execute on data science products and services to add value to the business and to the customers.
• Work cross-functionally with enterprise teams such as engineering and product management to bring products into production in a timely fashion with the highest standards, quality and best practices.
• Recruit, hire, build, train, and motivate a world class team of data scientists.
• Budgeting, planning, prioritizing, and execution of strategic objectives and the alignment of performance benchmarking against key KPIs and metrics for the applied data science organization.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. statistics, operations research, information systems, bioinformatics, economics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or similar quantitative fields).

• Experience in design, development, and deployment of AI & ML models.

• Experience in multivariate statistics modeling.

• Background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong quantitative ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

• Strong team player and passion to execute projects with customer and value first focus.

• Passion for building strong people-focused organizations and know how to define, build, execute, and measure against the enterprise’s vision.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline (e.g., e.g. statistics, operations research, information systems, bioinformatics, economics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or similar quantitative fields).
• 1-3 years of experience in the aviation or manufacturing business with a track record of successfully deploying data science models in production.
• 1-3 years of experience in building robust data science teams.
• 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, Scala. Python preferred.
• 3+ of experience with statistical software such as R, Octave, Julia, and MATLAB; R preferred) and database languages such as SQL).
• 5+ years of experience working in one or more AI/ML techniques such as regression, clustering, classification, decision trees, natural language processing, ensemble methods, deep learning, reinforcement learning, etc.
• 3+ years of Experience with machine learning related open source libraries such as Scikit learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
• Knowledge of advance statistics such as probability theory and distributions, descriptive statistics, matrix algebra, multivariate statistics, polynomial analysis, parametric and non-parametric methods.
• Experience training machine learning models in a cloud computing environment such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, etc. and fundamental knowledge in MLOps.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).
