The Boeing Company is currently seeking a F18 Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Level 4) to join the Applications Development team within F/A-18 Software Organization located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The Distributed Target Processor-Networked (DTP-N) software team is seeking individuals interested in developing software applications for F/A-18 mission systems. The DTP-N is the cornerstone of future Boeing Naval Aviation platforms and is based on a Service Oriented Architecture. It enables state of the art application development through Open Mission Systems (OMS) and container technology, allowing horizontal integration of applications across platforms.

Position Responsibilities:

• Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

• Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system

• Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met

• Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities. Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics

• Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects

• Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations

• Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards

• Works under minimal direction

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate may be required to work onsite at least 2 days a week at the listed location.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  Ability to obtain secret US Security clearance (Post-Start).

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

• Ability to obtain secret US Security clearance (Post-Start)

• Experience working on Mission Systems Products

• Experience with large scale C++ system development

• Hands on experience developing on the Linux platform and Windows

• Familiarity/Experience with Service Oriented Architecture and Microservices

• Experience with embedded software architecture/development/design

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Familiarity/Experience developing code that runs on VxWorks

• Familiarity/Experience with Phantom Fusion

• Familiarity/Experience with Open Mission Systems (OMS)

• Working knowledge of Containerization technology

• Working knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

Typical Education/Experience:

• Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience)

• In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Travel:

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.
