Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), has an immediate need for a Lead Engineer – ONR Phase Array Project (Level 5), in El Segundo, CA. The Multi-Domain Capabilities organization in Phantom Works is seeking unique engineering talent to help us develop, integrate, and demonstrate the next generation of multi-domain capabilities, command and control, communications, datalinks and networking – all in support of our warfighting community. Our team is looking to rapidly expand our baseline capabilities to support new and existing contracts and our expansion of next generation research and development efforts. The ONR PAA Team Lead Engineer position qualifications include:
Experience with hardware design and development and integration, including packaging, for LOS phased array antennas (PAA)
Understanding of and experience with software and hardware integration and check-out processes and techniques as related to communications systems and PAAs
Work across teams (and with customers) to design and develop unique hardware solutions to solve MDC problems
Must have proven ability to work independently or with teams made up of various cross functional areas
Experience with rapid prototyping design and development for hardware solutions
Experienced with successfully planning, overseeing program definition, development, planning, and execution of prototype and development programs
Must have demonstrated ability to work independently or with teams made up of various cross functional areas
Experiences with oversight of hardware and software development and integration efforts
Previous experience as a technical design and development lead engineer with hardware and software development and integration oversight
Experience with leading Risk analysis and management for programs
Demonstrated technical oversight responsibility for rapid prototype and development type programs.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed locatio
Leads work with customers to develop and document electronic and electrical system requirements on complex multi-tiered projects as they relate to PAA design, development and demonstration.
Leads analysis and translation of complex requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
Leads testing and validation work on complex system designs to assure that operational and functional requirements are met.
Works with other to develop program test strategies.
Manages performance of critical suppliers to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
Conducts program independent reviews and reports results to program leadership.
Provides critical support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
Leads research into technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
Makes recommendations for technology investments.
Recognized as a business unit-wide expert in process development and qualification, physical and functional integration and installation design and resolving supplier technical issues.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). A final U.S. secret clearance Pre Start is required.
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
15+ years of direct experience in design and development of communications, networking, datalink system including Phase Array Antenna design and development.
Experience with design, development and integration of line of site PAAs with direct application to Navy programs.
Demonstrated experience operating on a team of hardware and software engineers through design and develop of prototype or development type communications programs.
Demonstrated experience collecting complex engineering data from multiple sources and the ability to organize and communicate data concisely to the customer and company senior leadership.
Demonstrated proficiency and understanding of communications, networking and datalink systems, including phased array antennas. 25% travel required.
The personal flexibility and willingness to travel to customer and supplier sites as well as various testing locations during the program.
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
