The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Mechanical and Structural Engineering Manager to lead VC-25B team located either San Antonio, TX and/or Tukwila, WA.
As a Mechanical and Structure Engineering Manager you will lead VC-25B Mechanical Systems Team to complete and deliver certified development and modified systems (Airstairs, Cargo Baggage Loader, Fuels, and Hydraulics). This is accomplished by supporting key suppliers and our certification, production, and operations teams. The successful candidate will have a broad background in mechanical systems engineering, experience as a cost account manager, work well across multiple disciplines, good communication skills with the ability to communicate to the customer and with major suppliers.
Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Mechanical Systems Engineering.
Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets team goals aligned to program priorities.
Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
Manages, develops and motivates employees
Manages team Cost Accounts
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
3+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role (either as a lead or a manager)
5+ years of experience in mechanical and system engineering
5+ years of experience working with hardware systems
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
Active Secret Security Clearance
Experience mentoring, coaching, guiding, and leading teams
3+ years of experience communicating across organizations with suppliers and leadership
3+ years of experience have Leading or managing FAA certification projects through full lifecycle
5+ years of experience in equipment management
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
TX only Boeing Support Systems (BSS) relocation plan is available for internal candidates based on candidate eligibility.
