Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity and immediate need on the P-8 Program for an Electrical Systems Design Engineer located in Tukwila, WA. 

As a member of the P-8 Electrical Power Engineering Team you will be working in a highly dynamic team environment developing and maintaining electrical power design for both the Electrical Power Generation System (EPGS) and Secondary Power Distribution System (SPDS).

This position is a hybrid position that allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite on occasion when supporting aircraft troubleshooting in Tukwila, WA USA.

Position Responsibilities:

• Oversees and leads supplier efforts in development and production of EPGS and SPDS components and software.
• Leads EPGS and SPDS troubleshooting of P-8 production issues.
• Provides technical support, problem solving, and guidance to product support team for fielded aircraft.
• Supports resolution of supplier hardware quality issues.
• Provides oversight and guidance for authoring and updating Specification Control Drawings (SCDs), Interface Design Descriptions (IDD), and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
• Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, peers, interfacing teams, and suppliers.
• Provides consultation to other P-8 teams such as Mechanical Systems and Missions Systems for hardware power requirements.
• Provides advice/guidance/consultation to other Commercial Derivative Aircraft (CDA) programs when requested.
• Reports progress and elevates issues to management as required.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in an engineering related field, ABET accredited.
• 9+ years of experience in electrical power design in the aerospace industry.
• Experience managing and interfacing with suppliers.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):  

• Experience with Commercial Derivative Aircraft (CDA) SPDS and/or EPGS.
• Experience working within an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
• Experience with aircraft power troubleshooting.
• Experience using Windchill.

Typical Education/ Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
