Boeing is seeking a Senior Machining & Design Lab Technician to join our team in the Advanced Equipment and Design Lab located in Everett, Washington.
This position will work in the machine shop designing and building machined parts and tools, and support various factory support projects.
Performs complex analysis and evaluation of parts, materials, processes, technology or equipment through research and testing to ensure safety, reliability and adherence to requirements and specifications
Leads, coordinates and conducts complex analysis of failed parts and processes to reduce or eliminate future failures
Generates test plans, identifies and categorizes failure, determines root cause and documents results and recommendations
Leads the proposal, development and validation of revisions to procedures and specifications
Determines suitability of parts, materials and processes and coordinates resolution of complex issues with suppliers and customers
Supports continuous improvement of products and processes by leading the design, development, fabrication, testing, evaluation and implementation of new concepts and technology
Provides technical expertise, application knowledge and performance history to internal and external customers. Supports the training and development of others
Programs (G-code) and operates the Automated NC drill Test bench (AFAST) in support of Engineering test part assembly including but not limited to engineering allowables and technology developmental and producibility specimens
Designs and fabricates producibility specimens, specimen holders in support of engineering testing
Conducts drill performance tests
Measures and documents coupon dimensions and hole measurement including diameter, burr, surface finish, etc.
Communicates bench issues, trouble shoots, and notifies PD and Electroimpact focal for repair
Works/communicates with EI so EI can order tool holders and other necessary parts
Supports robotics automation system in Seattle if/as needed
Cuts composite parts utilizing the wet saw, or metal part
Operates drill press, lathe, etc.
Measures bolt chamfer, adjusts as needed
Disassembles tested engineering specimens for root cause analysis
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Everett, Washington site.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Experience with metal parts fabrication and/or machine shop processes
Experience with parts/assembly design, electro-mechanical design and/or machine controls
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience developing prototype production equipment by designing, simulating, building, modifying, testing, and integrating components to minimize risk and demonstrate concept feasibility
Experience working in a lab environment
Experience working in a production/factory environment
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+4 years' related work experience, 8 years' related work experience, etc.).
