Practice Area Profile

BCG Platinion launched in Germany in 2000 to add deep technical expertise to the Boston Consulting Group's existing capabilities. Today, our presence spans across the globe, with offices in Asia, Europe, and South and North America. Our New York-based North American team began in 2014 and in 2017 acquired MAYA Design, a Pittsburgh-based digital design and innovation lab, to grow our capabilities around technology and design. We support our clients' total digital transformation through technology, design, cybersecurity, and risk management & financial engineering capabilities. And together with BCG, BCG Platinion's interdisciplinary team of technical experts enable customized technical solutions and accelerate delivery value through new business platforms, application consolidations, and major system implementations.

What You'll Do

You will collaborate with colleagues from Platinion China and/or Boston Consulting Group on national and international client projects.

Together with our clients, you will develop superior IT concepts and architecture solutions as well as support technical implementations actively and on site, applying your sound technical know-how, your understanding of business contexts, and your analytical and conceptual skills. You have to embrace state-of-art digital trends, such as cloud, big data, AI and blockchain, to bring innovation in our client's business.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Definition of digital transformation strategy and execution plan
• Management of work packages/modules in critical IT implementation projects
• Effectively facilitating client meetings, co-leading a content topic as well as coaching other project members
• Technical architecture and code reviews and performance of technical proofs of concept
• Analysis of complex IT application landscapes
• Analysis of the status quo and optimization of IT architectures
• Architecture design of digital platforms on cloud, big data, mobile & DevOps
• Optimization of application development processes

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

• A university degree with above-average academic performance in a STEM related field or information technology
• At least 7 years of professional experience in the field of large scale software development or IT services
• Extensive expertise in traditional technology, overarching understanding of architecture, object-oriented programming languages, database design and systems, component technologies, XML standards etc.
• Wide technology exposure in the digital area, keep pace with most updated technologies
• Overview of common development methods and tools
• Outstanding analytical and conceptual skills
• Team spirit, communication and presentation skills, and mental agility
• Flexibility, ability to work under pressure, and willingness to travel

Professional Skills

• You are expected to be expert in some or all of below areas:
• Big data: Data architecture, such as Modeling, Integration, Storage, Indexing, Security, Logging, Data Quality, Master Data Management; experience with Big Data NoSQL and NewSQL database (such as Cassandra, MongoDB, HBase, Redis); experience with big data ingestion and integration tools (such as Hadoop, Kafka, Spark etc. on cloud/on premise)
• Micro-service: Solid Java, SOA skills, familiar with open source framework such as Spring, mybatis, spring boot and spring cloud; familiar with distributed and parallel computing systems; familiar with docker technologies, such as Docker, Mesos, Rancher.
• Mobile: knowledge with iphone/Android platforms, familiar with Object-C, H5, Css3, Javascript; familiar with frameworks, such as React Native, Nodejs
• DevOps: Configuration and optimization with Nginx, Apache, Uwsgi, Tomcat, familiar with tools such as Jenkins, Github, Jira etc., keep pace with dynamics in DevOps ecosystem
• Cloud: Knowledge with main-stream IaaS/PaaS platforms, such as Pivotal CloudFoundry, AWS, Azure, Ali Cloud, familiar with docker based technology systems, such as CoreOS, Kubernetes, experience in large scale cloud adoption; knowledge in Linux core and virtualization technologies.
• Test Automation: experience in building automated test framework and performance analysis and optimization, using tools such as LoadRunner, Selenium, JProfiler.
• Knowledge in architecture of enterprise applications, such as SAP and Oracle
• Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
• Able to think strategically/end-to-end, full understanding of interdependencies between architecture work stream and the overall project context
• Excellent communication skills
• Team player, open, pleasure to work with and positive in a group dynamic
