About this role:
Medical Data Specialists play a key role in clinical research by controlling the information collected during a clinical trial. They ensure the quality and integrity of clinical data using various methods and tools including the development and implementation of data management plans, database specifications, data capture systems and ad-hoc reports which are used to review clinical data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency. Medical Data Specialists achieve this through collaboration with clinical colleagues (e.g., Trial Management, Trial Operations, Site Operations, IT, Global Safety, Biostatistics, Quality and Medical Sciences) and other cross functional team members (e.g., Legal and Regulatory).
Key Responsibilities:
• Leverage therapeutic knowledge to define the data collection requirements and validation specifications to perform the review of clinical data for completeness, accuracy and consistency in accordance with the investigational plan.
• Identify, communicate, mitigate and control risks related to clinical data collection and processing in order to ensure data integrity and traceability.
• Collect and crosscheck data from various sources, leveraging tools and systems in order to streamline control processes.
• Develop and maintain data management documentation and guidelines in accordance with Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Facilitate timely data entry by mobilizing and providing assistance to research sites having data entry difficulties.
• Define data management timelines and deliverables according to the study milestones.
• Provide subject matter expertise to project team members during all phases of project life cycle.
• Provides accurate and timely clinical data to internal and external customers upon request.
• Work with programmers to design and validate electronic case report forms (eCRFs) and other electronic data capture (EDC) systems.
• Provide subject matter expertise prior, during and post internal and external audits and inspections.
• Maintain compliance with corporate, core and study-specific learning requirements.
What we’re looking for:
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of data management experience
- Because raw data can rarely be utilized reliably, clinical need experts to collect, clean, and validate their data. Data Management professionals are at the forefront of data collection, verification and integration. This is a unique function where medical/bio-medical/life science knowledge and technical skills are merged.
- Need a strong team player, solution-oriented and very organized.
- Standard skillset includes strong analytical skills, medical knowledge, good communication skills and project management notions
- Advanced technical skills (SQL, SAS, Scripting or Programming) is an asset.
- Data Management experience is required.
- In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
