About the role:
Responsible for managing activities related to research and development of diagnostic capabilities. This includes directing and overseeing the activities of a research & technology development function including: identification, evaluation, planning, execution, and implementation/technology transfer of new technologies, features, and products as well as managing program/project progress and deliverables from initiation through delivery. Devotes time to managerial, leadership and staff development responsibilities.
Your responsibilities include:
- Drives functional excellence initiatives, delivers high quality functional deliverables, and ensures technical excellence for product or technical development.
- Drives technical projects of major magnitude and scope.
- Assumes project management responsibilities for research technology development projects
- Supports strategic vision and mission definition, and identification of future technology development opportunities
- Provides significant guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches.
- Supports strategic intellectual property development for multiple product lines, technologies or specialized functions.
- Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high quality staff.
- Develops and monitors department budgets.
- Determines appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources.
- Coordinates proactive interaction with project managers/core team leaders and cross functional stakeholders to facilitate organizational alignment and linkage of research efforts to related functional workstreams.
- Drives the development of department tools and methodologies.
- Determines project staff assignments and schedules work to meet completion dates and R&D deliverables.
- Establishes cross-functional team relationships.
- Supports customer interactions to facilitate technology alignment with customer needs
- Provides an overview of the function and role of his/her group, technical skill sets, to other groups and/or divisions.
- Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues.
- Drives and evaluates project and department progress, technical development plans, and results.
- Manages contractual engagements with external parties
Management Responsibilities:
- Leads a team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals. Guides, coaches, directs, and develops direct reports, and where applicable, drives those practices throughout their organization.
- Fosters a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
- May direct and control the activities and budget of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups, projects/programs and/or operations.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements).
What we're looking for in you
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree plus 7-9 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experienced in the technology development process with demonstrated success
- Strong cross functional understanding of Research, Development, Clinical, Regulatory, and Marketing functions
- Demonstrated team leadership and project management capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree
- Cardiac disease and heart failure expertise
- Experience and expertise in diagnostic algorithm development
- Familiarity with the diagnostics space and key technologies
- Critical technology evaluation capabilities
- Experience with technology transfer to product
- Strong customer engagement skills
