    Primary Functions:

    The primary function of the Vice President, OTR Operations is to deliver strategic leadership and oversight to the OTR Operations team. The focus is to drive excellence in carrier sales and to build strong relationships with BNSFL carrier partners. Additionally, the role focus will be to provide capacity solutions to the sales and account management teams while integrating technology and delivering measured efficiency.

    Basic Qualifications:

    A highly effective Vice President, OTR Operations has a strategic, agile and inspirational leadership approach that delivers our purpose and Guiding Principles to our employees, customers, suppliers and our community with a passion for the industry, strong business acumen, and a data-driven approach to decision making.   This individual is able to adjust strategy, people and processes to align with changing needs or the market and the OTR Operations team through strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to drive and motivate the operations team with dynamic and progressive leadership.  Leading a group of Operations Directors, the Vice President sets overall course and direction for the carrier sales functions of the BNSF Logistics OTR brokerage business unit.   

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate, build and deliver the annual operations business plan for the OTR carrier sales teams
    • Grow and develop the operations team and the OTR service capabilities and capacities across all transportation modes, including driving innovation, automation and leveraging digital freight marketplace solutions
    • Drive workflow efficiency to execute with excellence to enhance customer and carrier experience
    • Manage the achievement of overall team metrics including coverage, gross margin, quality, productivity and timeliness
    • Collaborate with Vice Presidents of Sales and Customer Service to deliver creative solutions that will drive customer and carrier satisfaction while maintaining a smart balance between volume and GM
    • Bring operational excellence and best practices forward to enhance customer and carrier experience 
    • Develop communication cadence with your teams to review metrics, establish expectations and objectives and measure to those regularly
    • Actively collaborate with peers and executive team to bring forward innovative thought, enhanced solutions and operations excellence

    Education/Certifications:

    • Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, customer engagement, etc.
    • A four year college degree is required, graduate degree preferred
    • At least 10 years of logistics industry experience is required including at least 7+ years of management experience
