Center 2 (19050), United States of America, McLean, VirginiaManager, Financial Analysis (External Planning & Analysis)
Capital One is seeking a Finance Manager to act as a strategically-minded leader, analyst, and top notch problem solver within our Card External Planning and Analysis team. The scope of this hybrid role will serve two primary functions:
Providing financial leadership and direction to our Card Data Models & Credit (DMC) team
Providing analytical support to our broader team’s industry and competitive analysis agenda
Card DMC Financial Ownership:
Card DMC is an organization whose mission is to leverage Data, Models, and Credit to maximize the success of Capital One’s Credit Card business. We do this by making data a competitive advantage for US Card, using data and automation to scale our highest leverage processes, shortening the time required to deliver analytic insights to market, and supporting investments in platforms that deliver long-term enterprise value.
The DMC Finance lead is a critical part of our Card Central organization, partnering closely with the department head to set the vision for how to assess and manage business performance, investment decisions, operating budgets, and more. You would be expected to perform financial data analysis in preparing Profit & Loss or other statements and frequently build reports for leadership to support presentations and ad-hoc requests. This lead would also serve as a part of the broader Card Central Finance team, supporting their overall mission to help create insights about internal and external performance trends to inform the strategic decision-making and investment roadmap of Card.
External Planning & Analysis Support:
Within this team, our analytical efforts supporting Card are centralized around three primary pillars:
Analysis and benchmarking of the Credit Card industry against our own Card business through various growth metrics, customer segmentations, and access to public/private data
Exploring and translating the various macroeconomic / industry trends driving consumer preferences into tangible and measurable headwinds and tailwinds on our Card business
Driving innovation and insights through centralized portfolio analytics, which include deep-dives into Consumer Portfolio health, and strategic requests supporting high-impact presentations to Card leaders, the President of Card, and our Board of directors.
In this combined role, you will reap the benefits of problem solving and creative thinking wearing numerous analyst hats (finance, strategy, business) and being in close proximity to our data environments for both finance and the business. As an analyst, you will develop from needing to tackle both tactical problems that require a detailed understanding of data as well as more abstract problems that require creative thinking and close partnership with the business. You will partner heavily with various teams across Card (https://i.e. Business Lines, Corporate Strategy, Card Finance, Credit Risk Management, etc.) to solve important business problems that will ultimately drive value to the company. You will be encouraged to drive insights, take risks, and seek out new responsibilities to create leverage for the team. For candidates that seek to be “strong generalists” and build a career in Capital One’s Card business, our team can be a powerful launch pad, providing a wide lens of visibility and opportunities to tackle different challenges facing Card. We aim to provide a pathway for top talent to pivot into rewarding careers within Capital One.
