The Senior Director for Security Risk Program Management serves as an experienced technology leader in Capital One’s Cyber organization as part of the Governance, Risk & Compliance team. This is a visible, strategic, and high-impact leadership role as an advocate for continuous cyber risk reduction and mitigation through technical planning and solutioning. This position is responsible for defining and delivering cybersecurity risk reduction and cybersecurity risk mitigation programs with significant complexity that have broad cross-organizational impact in technical products that span platforms, operations, delivery and onboarding initiatives. This individual is a cybersecurity expert with a capacity to lead technologists and also possesses the qualities of a skilled program manager. This individual brings operational depth and breadth across a broad range of cyber functions.
As Senior Director, Security Risk Program Management, you will partner closely with product, engineering, architecture, enterprise engineering, cyber and cloud infrastructure teams, as well as line-of-business teams to oversee and drive critical cyber risk programs from start to finish. A deep technical understanding of software engineering best practices, cloud infrastructure, batch and real-time data access patterns, and platforms-as-a-service operating model is required. This role requires customer focus, organizational and people leadership, effective communication and program management skills. It requires partnering with all levels of leadership and building consensus by representing, verbally and in writing, complex decisions, and tough trade-offs towards cybersecurity risk reduction.
Responsibilities:
Establishes and leads a Security Program Management function with the intention to drive cyber risk reduction and cyber risk mitigation through product planning, design, and implementation.
Leads Lines of Business technical teams and product teams through the understanding of cyber risk and cyber policy and governance expectations such that product development is inclusive of cyber expectations.
Manages cyber risk reduction through technical solutions and mitigation plans, for both cyber and business products.
Plays a key leadership role within Cyber’s community of leaders, driving strategy and collaborating with peers across Technology, Lines of Business, and horizontal functions.
Instills a culture that works toward the highest standards in cyber (safeguard the business) while ensuring that business requirements are understood and adhered to (enabling the business).
With an innovative mindset, employs new cyber assurance approaches and technical solutions to mitigate risk around current and anticipated risks and/or breaches.
Guides the acquisition of professional services and tools for effective cyber governance and risk management.
Establishes credibility throughout the organization by earning the reputation for being a dedicated senior leader and change agent.
Recruits, develops, and retains top talent, and uses excellent people leadership skills.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
At least 7 years of people management experience
At least 9 years of experience in Technical Program Management or software engineering
At least 5 years of experience with cyber policies, standards, and procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
5+ years of experience working with industry frameworks (NIST CSF, FFIEC CAT, CIS RAM, FAIR, PCI DSS)
10+ years in Technical Program Management or software engineering
3+ years of experience with information technology audit or compliance management
1+ years of experience in a regulated environment
3+ years of Technology or Financial services industry experience
Industry recognized professional certifications (Certified in Risk & Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM))

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Location is New York City: $304,825 - $359,625 for Sr. Dir, Cyber TechnicalLocation is San Francisco, California: $322,937 - $380,993 for Sr. Dir, Cyber TechnicalRemote roles in other areas of New York & California, and across Colorado & Washington: $258,323 - $304,763 for Sr. Dir, Cyber Technical
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
