Position summary

The Associate Director, Carrier Excellence, will be a highly effective leader with expertise in process improvement, lean manufacturing, root cause analysis along with other improvement techniques and be an accomplished trainer and event leader. He or she will provide overall leadership for Carrier globally in the deployment of continuous improvement, including managing the central team of employees. This role will monitor and lead the development and effectiveness of Practitioners, Assessors, and Trainers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead high-impact initiatives within our manufacturing sites through the application of lean and achieve sustained productivity improvements.
  • Develop capabilities within the business units and sites to:
  • Conduct cell design events to improve productivity and reduce inventory.
  • Lead 3P events for new product lines and in support of product relocations and new building start-ups.
  • Lead events through implementation of integrated production logistics, including part presentation and supplier integration.
  • Overall site transformations
  • Support Greenfield factory projects from initial layout to full implementation.
  • Provide direction for the overall continuous improvement activities. Support the development and deployment of Carrier Excellence, the continuous improvement aspect of the Carrier Operating system at Carrier.
  • Enhance current training material to grow Continuous Improvement competency across the company.
  • Support Carrier Improvement initiatives and deploy strategies as directed.
  • Stimulate growth by leading focused Carrier Excellence (Cx) events to drive productivity gains.
  • Drive the adoption & implementation of growth equation to help Carrier Excellence achieve growth in the segment.
  • Proactively conduct productive and scalable Cx events with sustainment initiatives.
  • Implement, improve, and sustain foundational Operations effectiveness processes including funnel management, visibility Kaizens, and transformative Manufacturing
  • Work with Operations teams to install and drive good daily management and problem-solving processes; build appropriate standard work and weekly/monthly performance scorecards for enhanced visual management.
  • Lead by doing to promote Cx for results mentality. Build growth culture and sustainability. Ensure that Plant Managers create and track Cx metrics
  • Provide Cx training and coaching; improve Cx training and facilitation skills by increasing the pool of certified practitioners.
  • Roll out the Cx Competency model across the region.

Travel

Ability to travel regularly on a global basis required (50%)

Education

  • Requires a BS or MS in engineering, operations, or other technical field.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering or related discipline is preferred.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or ACE experience: 5+ years
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills required
