    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This position is for a Staff Engineering Services and Support technician who is under moderate supervision. Performs moderately complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects. Confers with engineers on details and implications of test procedures and results. Assists in orienting, training, and assigning work of technical/business support employees.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Moderate to complex HVACR troubleshooting & problem solving
    • Installation of HVACR equipment to support psychometric testing and capital upgrades
    • Troubleshoot and program electrical components and controls
    • Coordinate maintenance and repairs with lab technicians, engineers and management to minimize testing downtime
    • Fabricate/modify equipment for unique applications
    • Support Laboratory EH&S

    Required Qualifications:

    • HVACR Degree/Certification from any Technical area/ trade school or Skilled Trades apprenticeships programs
    • EPA 608 certified Type I & II
    • 5+ years’ experience a mechanical/technical field
    • 1+ years’ experience of Electrical power distribution knowledge of 115 / 208/ 230 and 460 voltages single and 3- phase. and associated components, low voltage control, ability to read schematics and troubleshooting components and circuits
    • OSHA 10 Hour Construction EH&S Certified

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in any of the following:

      • Understand refrigeration cycle, components, maintenance and repair procedure
      • Steam heating systems and associated components
      • Pipe fitting, copper, black Iron, and/or PVC. Welding skills
      • Brazing skills, including phos-copper, silver, and soft solder
      • Power industrial trucks, scissor lifts, crane and rigging etc.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and comply with all Lab EH&S Procedures

    • Intermediate skills level with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel Knowledge programming digital and PLC controllers
