    About This Role
    Det-Tronics is an industry leading division of Carrier’s global Industrial Fire and Safety business, and has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Technical Project Manager in the Engineering group to support their existing and growing portfolio of fire, gas and smoke detection products. These detection products utilize a variety of proprietary sensing technologies from optical to chemical that must be certified to a wide range of industry standards and country-specific regulations. Customers around the world rely on these connected products to keep people and property safe in challenging hazardous environments found in applications from traditional POG (Petrochemical, Oil and Gas) markets to the latest Renewable & Clean Energy ones. This position offers a rewarding career at Carrier to lead new and sustaining development projects for these diverse markets and applications.

    Responsible for management of projects for Det-Tronics' products and cross-functional business processes related to new product development, product enhancement and efficiency improvements. Capability to work in a self-directed manner while demonstrating technical project leadership, communication, and organizational abilities to deliver project results for business unit commitments. Foundational skills & expertise are required in project management, engineering, product development, and general business management processes.

    Key Responsibilities
    Lead multiple cross-functional projects of medium to high complexity from initiation through commercialization. Projects are largely electromechanical in nature for products involving software / firmware.

    • Develop project plans, strategies, and schedules that include defining project requirements, KPI’s, resource needs and key assumptions; leads development of the business case.
    • Execute projects following applicable development and quality processes, management systems, and all applicable regulations; support their continuous improvement. 
    • Effectively lead and guide project teams against their goals and their deliverables including any external resources and suppliers using company management processes and tools with daily or weekly meetings, as appropriate.
    • Manage and own the project budget.
    • Hands on development of project planning documents and support of team’s project documents or deliverables by helping with their creation, edit, and review.
    • Leads team to develop complete, robust risk analysis and mitigation plans; escalates as appropriate.
    • Identify and manage through project issues and priority changes that can affect execution to find common ground and path forward; define any required project scope or deliverable changes.
    • Create, manage and communicate project resource needs including in weekly project priority and resource meetings.
    • Track and manage project metrics such as schedule, status, accomplishments, and risks. Coordinate and handle any required communication and report-outs.
    • Other duties and programs as assigned.
       

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
    • Minimum 5+ years professional experience
    • Minimum 3 years of experience managing projects of electromechanical products

    Preferred Qualifications

    Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

    • Formal Project Management training/certificate (PMP) a plus.
    • Experience and strong familiarity with a product-development stage gate project governance and program structures.
    • Ability to influence and collaborate with all cross functional swim-lanes up and down the organization. Able to build trust and collaborative partnerships.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to prioritize.
    • Experience with Confluence/Jira tools, Agile Methodology highly desired.
    • Experience with fire and safety products and markets a plus.
