KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read and interpret work orders and drawings submitted by engineers.
  • Fabricate HVAC prototype test units, tooling, and text fixtures needed to support HVAC engineering development projects using independent judgment with minimal supervision. This will include:
    • Brazing
    • Welding
    • Bending
    • Stamping
    • Machining
    • Other metal fabricating techniques.
  • Utilize CAD/CAM software to program fabrication equipment.
  • Perform wiring and modification of HVAC prototype test units
  • Understand and install instrumentation components such as thermocouples, pressure taps, and various sensors per the engineer's direction.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, plus additional specialized courses, with 5+ years of demonstrated relevant experience.

OR

  • Associates Degree, Technical School Certificate or Diploma, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, or another post-high school training with 3+ years of demonstrated relevant experience preferred.
  • EPA Certification preferred.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of HVAC products – residential preferred (air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, gas furnaces).
  • Experience in the fabrication of sheet metal products.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to braze similar and dissimilar materials
  • Experience with machine shop equipment – press brake, shear, punch, welder, brazing equipment, band saw, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Basic skills with email, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel. Must be able to use electronic communication (email, instant messaging) for most communications with internal customers.
  • Experience with or demonstrated ability to learn CAD/CAM software packages.
  • Electrical Aptitude – electrical/electronic knowledge, able to perform basic wiring tasks, read wiring diagrams and use a Volt/Ohm meter
  • Experience with conventional and/or CNC machining preferred.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to comprehend and comply with EH&S Practices & Policies and Ethics Practices
  • Experience working in a team and matrix environment
  • Proven capacity to self-direct/motivate with a vision toward future goals
  • Ability to lift and move 35lbs with no assistance
  • Ability to work a first-shift schedule, M-F, 40 hours per week.
