    Position Summary:

    We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join IoT and Emerging Technology team, a part of Carrier’s Fire & Security business to help in the development and scaling of IoT solutions

    The IoT and Emerging Technology team within Fire and Security business is a key enabler in realizing smart, efficient solutions for buildings & homes by providing Connectivity and IoT solutions across our Fire and Security product portfolios.  The team supports pre-development, development and integration of connectivity solutions and works closely with customers and business groups on emerging innovations in IoT.

    Key Job Responsibilities:

    • Electronics hardware design and development for IoT devices

    • Develop schematics, PCB design and validation through the whole product development cycle

    • Designing and troubleshooting microcontrollers and embedded systems at component, sub-system and system level.

    • Initiate and participate in hardware/platform design reviews.

    • Work closely with Firmware Engineers & Architects to create IoT platforms & solutions

    • Design, guide, and execute product qualification and certification tests

    • Work with external vendors and partners to identify the short-term and long-term solutions to meet business objectives

    • Drive innovation and technology insertion in electrical system

    • Understands intended business use of the designs and develops solutions to meet business needs

    • Be proactive in designs and architectures for future platform development decisions to maximize reuse and cost efficiencies.

    Required Qualifications:

    • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

    • 10+ year of industry experience in Electrical design, development for real world products – residential / commercial and/or industrial devices

    • 5+ years of experience in the wireless products design as Electrical HW engineer (any of BLE, WiFi, LoRa, LTE / 5G, NB-IOT)

    • Must have led at least one product development effort from inception through market launch

    • 5+ years in C programming

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • IoT systems development & deployment experience and familiarity on IoT standards

    • Experience developing RF hardware / antenna designs related to wireless communications systems

    • Hands on experience on multiple air interface standards for wireless communications

    • Experience with proof of concept, advance development activities

    • Experience with relevant FCC, UL and EN standards

    • Ability to lead internal and customer teams through technical risk and cost trade-offs to meet business needs and KPIs

    • Self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as on a team
