About the Position

We are looking for an Application Architect who can join the growing product engineering team at Constellation. Your focus is split between the application delivery and direct contributions to the application for the team. We see leaders as individuals that are willing to get their hands dirty in implementation so they can have a close relationship to the engineers they are guiding. You are a person that wants to continuously improve all aspects of engineering. From infrastructure to deliverables, you are firm believer in continouous improvement. While this is not a direct people manager role you will be a lead, mentor and educator for the team. You are the guiding light to the team and obstacles are no match for your abilities.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality code that satisfies both the business functional requirements as well as the non-functional requirements
• Participate in product planning sessions with Product Managers, Product Analysts, Technical Analysts and product engineering team members to analyze business/technology requirements and outline the proposed technology solution
• Mentor and develop a remote team of engineers to help grow their skillset and educate them on new technologies and best practices within product engineering
• Enforce the standards for how code is delivered within your application space.
• Create development guidelines and standards for agile product development. Identify gaps in development guidelines and propose solutions around them.
• Work closely with other developers, leads and implementation partners/vendors including both onshore and offshore partners to ensure software designs and solutions deliver the intended business value
• Contribute to project estimating activities, design reviews, so that solution and architecture of the projects is aligned with longer term strategy and standards
• Implement and propose new standards, design recommendations, patterns, best practices for reuse and acceleration against web and mobile applications
• Identify improvements to delivery of applications and procedures to ensure software quality and faster delivery. This includes CI/CD processes as well as orchestration of applications to cloud providers.
• Strong understanding of “big picture” of application ecosystem.
• Work closely with solutions architects and product management team in delivering highly impactful capabilities
• Identify metrics and key results against development processes to improve the efficiency of the teams overall output.

Domain Expertise:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle in a Scrum environment and experience working in a Scrum team with rapid iterations of products
• 10+ years of hands on experience within data engineering, web application, or mobile development, 3-4 years of leading engineering teams
• Previous experience delivering applications
• Ability to implement and design proper testing strategies across multiple technologies
• Strong understanding how to apply and manage software solutions
• Expert understanding and use of REST services, JSON objects and secure coding concepts
• Expert knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, GCP
• Expert knowledge of SQL or NoSql database technologies including ORMs
• Expert knowledge of data pipeline technologies (Snowflake, AWS DBT, Airflow)
• Knowledge of monitoring frameworks, observability, and ci/cd technologies
• Knowledge of analytic dashboard tooling (PowerBi, Looker, Tableau)

The salary range for this role is:

$103,100.00 - $191,200.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and any other benefits to eligible employees.
