    Position Summary

    The Lead Server will partner closely with the Assistant Manager and serve as the Floor Manager for the day, and is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience, and world- class customer service to guests at Robert Mondovi’s Arch & Tower location. In addition this role is expected to perform all host duties such as overseeing the overall guest experience, displaying a high degree of knowledge of the cuisine, wine, standards, and culture of the Arch & Tower branded experience.  . Experiences may include but not limited to lunches, dinners, Special Events and meetings which may take place on days, nights, and weekends. The Lead Host will communicates with management and downline staff regarding guest specifications and requirements so to provide an unparalleled Arch & Tower experience through proper delegation and communication. The primary functions of this position are delivering an exceptional visitor experience, world-class customer service, promoting the sale of wine, wine club and merchandise, all while enhancing our brand at The Arch & Tower.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide support for the Maitre' D or Assistant Manager by assuming a lead role in his/her absence.

    • Assist in the daily opening, closing, inventory procedures of the Arch & Tower location, which include computer transactions, reconcile cash sheets and prepares bank deposit slips, inventory reconciliation, and security functions (setting the alarms).

    • Instruct staff with helpful information on how to achieve sales goals and developing staff sales knowledge and providing tasting and educational information to the employees and in turn the guests.

    • Articulate and educate guests on wine and food pairings

    • Share knowledge about all wines and merchandise in an elevated, open, and friendly manner with the goal of helping customers develop enthusiasm and appreciation of our wines and brand.

    • Support member retention efforts by promoting membership in wine club as applicable.

    • Greet all guests promptly and graciously and provide knowledgeable, consistent, and courteous responses to questions, complaints and/or problems.  Ensure that all problems are resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.  Refer to management as appropriate.

    • Host specialty programs or experiences as assigned.

    • Fulfill customer orders and use point of sale/cash register to complete sales.  Properly operate cash registers and accurately follow transaction procedures so as to fulfill this integral part of guest experience.

    • Assist guests with transporting purchases to their vehicle or arrange for pick-up, shipment, or delivery.

    • Ensure that merchandise displays and tasting bar are kept in immaculately clean, organized condition at all times.

    • Setup tasting bar with necessary supplies.  Wash and buff tasting glasses and assist with another setup/cleanup as needed.

    • Serve tasting food pairings as ordered by guests, following all appropriate food handling procedures as well as SOPs.

    • Record tasting wines used.  Ensure empty bottles are put in appropriate holding area for inventory.

    • Ensure merchandise is tagged, fold clothing as needed, and assist in keeping stockroom neat and organized. May assist with quarterly wine or merchandise physical inventories as needed.

    • Promote and represent winery by pouring at off and on-premises special events.

    • Assist in training and orientation for new and/or on-call staff.

    • Maintain, update, and expand knowledge of the winery, viticulture, enology, and food by participating in educational training, seminars, and tastings within the Winery and through outside sources. Periodic knowledge tests will be facilitated to ensure first class service standards are maintained.

    • Understand and comply with all federal and state laws regarding the operation of a winery retail tasting room.

    • Understand and comply with all Constellation Brands compliance policies and regulations.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Effective leadership skills with proven ability to motivate, lead by example and direct colleagues and additional temporary staff as needed

    • Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook), familiarity with and ability to navigate in both Internet and Intranet environments and experience with POS inventory, reporting and sales systems

    • Knowledge of wines, culinary and culture (of brand mission of Robert Mondavi Winery/Arch & Tower)

    • Proficient knowledge of wine production and the wine industry.

    • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

    • Excellent people skills with the ability to work in team-based environment.

    • Exemplary attention to detail and an unwavering dedication to quality with a desire to maintain an elevated level of customer service always.

    • Proficient at all software and platforms of technology to perform duties to ensure an elevated experience for guests and accuracy for company.

    • Ability to work under pressure and on tight deadlines and to multi-task effectively; with strong organizational and time management skills

    • Excellent communication skills required, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear responses to clients and directions to internal hospitality management team and employees.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a genuine desire to help customers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.

    • Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license. 

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior experience in a high-volume, luxury retail, restaurant, or hospitality environment with knowledge and experience of elevated level wine and food service standards and an understanding of luxury décor and presentation

    • 2+ years reservation/property management software experience preferably Shopify, Tock, Tripleseat

    • TIPS/Responsible Beverage Service certified

    • Food Service certified

    • Foreign language skills a definite plus

    Physical Requirements/Work Environment

    The employee frequently is required to sit or stand for long periods of time.  The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.  Frequent walking, including going up and down stairs and bending are required.

     Work Environment: Working conditions at an event and/or the main service property may require the employee to be outside for extended periods of time and/or occasionally in a kitchen with slippery floors.  Irregular shifts, nights, weekends, and long hours may be required, particularly when working an event. 

    The pay rate for this role is $30.00/hr. This role is eligible to receive tips. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and any other benefits to eligible employees. Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
