    Position Summary

    The Quality Specialist is responsible for supporting the food safety and quality assurance functions within the facility. You will collaborate with department management on the development and implementation of food safety and quality assurance programs, assuming full responsibility in absence of the Process Improvement Manager. The development and validation of SOP’s and Specification Management, as well as participation in quality related Root Cause Analysis, are expectations for this role.

    Responsibilities

    • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, Global Food Safety Initiatives, HACCP, GMP, FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act).

    • Provide QA/Food Safety Training activities for plant personnel (new hire, ongoing food safety training, etc.).

    • Responsible for plant HACCP, GMP, ISO reporting to include data collection, procedure development and record keeping.

    • Support readiness for GFSI implementation (i.e. BRC/SQF).

    • Perform plant floor duties including quality audit inspection record keeping, product sample collection and analysis, HACCP and FSMA updating, compliance, auditing, and active participation in the 5S//Continuous Improvement program.

    • Assist with tracking of countermeasures related to internal audit findings (GMP/ISO/Process audits).

    • Collect quality related information from plant floor operators ensuring compliance with quality standard operating procedures. Collaborate with operations managers to develop and implement controls and improvements.

    • Assist in monitoring compliance to sanitation requirements including micro/CIP/ATP/Environmental trending.

    • Develop, implement, and rollout new quality programs (sanitary maintenance, GFSI, GMP, Quality System automation) to meet company quality standards.

    • Determine quality improvement parameters by identifying Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods relevant to manufacturing processes.

    • Participate in investigations and the troubleshooting of supplier packaging and product issues.

    • Support Document Control/SOP/Specification Management.

    • Support Root Cause Investigation/Tracking/Effectiveness Monitoring of Quality Issues.

    • Assist in the creation of reports and dashboards for faster communication on Quality KPI’s

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and 1- 3 years of food safety and quality experience in food industry, equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong knowledge of quality assurance methods, tools and quality manufacturing processes.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
    • Team oriented and able to work independently.
    • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
    • Able to handle multiple tasks.
    • Proficient in all Microsoft Business applications.

    Work Environment:

        -   Works outdoors/indoors

        -   Works on wet surfaces

        -   Is exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals

        -   Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic

        -   Must be able to move up to 55 lbs

        -   Primary office environment may be warehouse/distribution/packing/operational setting

    The salary range for this role is:

    $64,800.00 - $95,200.00

    This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
