What you'll do:
Acquire accurate materials or chemicals as taught
Perform general non-sterile compounding duties under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
Affix appropriate labels to final prescription product
Compound medication or chemicals into proper dosage forms safely and accurately
Use of electronic compounding software
Operate and maintaining complicated pharmacy equipment
Monitor compounding environment and maintain and update pharmacy logs
Supervise inventory needs
Clean the compounding area daily and as needed
Respect and maintain confidentiality guidelines of HIPAA
Answer and referring customer questions as appropriate
Maintain quality assurance
Maintains a familiarity and compliance with compounding standards, including USP < 795 > and < 800 >
Understands and follows all Standard Operating Procedures
Manages time well to allow for periods of great volume and rush orders
Effectively connect with customers and all staff members
Maintain a positive and friendly demeanor
Any other responsibilities as deemed vital that is within the scope of a pharmacy technician
Compounding team members may be exposed to chemicals used in the preparation of compounds (some are classified as hazardous and/or toxic by the National Institute for Safety and Health and special safety precautions must be taken when working with these chemicals)
What you'll need:
Technician experience in any pharmacy setting is preferred
Strong math skills
Required to undergo respirator fit testing - Full beards or a lot of facial hair may prevent a proper seal for the respirator
Must be capable to undergo N95 respirator fit testing with an outside vendor. Full beards or a lot of facial hair may prevent a proper seal for the respirator.
Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must not have active suspensions, sanctions, or other restrictions against any state license or certification as it relates to the job activities and responsibilities listed herein.
Must be capable of working with small, delicate pieces of expensive machinery to complete appropriate dosage forms in a timely manner.
Must have visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
The ability to lift at least 25 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking; for prolonged periods of time.
Must be able to wear required PPE for long periods of time when required.
Able to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
