    Position summary

    Performs chemical analyses of raw materials, raw mill, kiln feed, clinker and cement, process additions for production, and quality control following plant SOPs, American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) methods.

    • Performs testing, following EPA guidelines, on hazardous waste-derived fuels used in our cement kiln operations.

    • Prepares and analyzes samples of purchased and mined materials, intermedia, and final products using various equipment and a wide array of wet chemistry analytical techniques. 

    • Cleaning and maintaining all equipment used in the lab.

    • Willing to cover shifts needed in the lab to work overtime as needed/scheduled.

    • Willing to attend training and travel as needed.

    • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

    To succeed in this position, you will need:

    • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.

    • Preferred 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, biology, physics, or a related field.

    • Preferred 4 years of Quality, Process, Production experience in the cement industry. Control Room, Porcess, Utility/Production, Lab Technician, Physical Tester, or other related experience.

    • Minimum 3 years of Experience in a laboratory setting with chemistry, biology, physics, study biological interactions, physical relationships, or relevant cement lab experience.

    • General understanding of Hg analysis and operation of testing equipment.

    • Knowledge of software applications, electronics, and computers along with hardware and software equipment.

    • Knowledge of production and quality control processes in production environments

    • Proficient in the use of x-ray diffraction (XRD), x-ray fluorescence (XRF), atomic absorption (AA), isothermal calorimeter, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) desired.

    • Basic understanding of chemistry for Raw materials- Clinker-Cements.

    • Use of scales, balances, and basic QCV operations.
