Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all company safety policies and procedures
Troubleshoot malfunctions and repairs
Replace defective engines and sub-assemblies, such as transmissions, electric motors, drums, seals, hydraulic pumps, valves, pistons, rods, gears, etc.
Test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency (must be able to operate all equipment).
Weld broken parts and structural members.
Perform record keeping of time and parts used on the appropriate forms.
Plan work procedures and / or possible solutions such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts and rearrangement of parts or sub-assemblies.
Perform general cleaning of work areas and maintenance areas.
Assist other maintenance department staff in performing the duties necessary to assure the efficiency of operations of equipment/vehicles.
Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience in trucks and/or heavy equipment maintenance and repair, including diesels, hydraulic systems, air conditioning, brake adjustments and electrical systems
Strong safety culture a must; Able to work in a positive team environment
Demonstrate good performance, safety and attendance
Demonstrate the ability to work independently, without direct supervision
Demonstrate a willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays/nights
Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
Demonstrates ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators and other employees
Demonstrate the ability to conform to and maintain MSHA, OSHA, DOT and all other company policies or governmental state rules and regulations
Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as required by OSHA/MSHA
Must have good depth perception and coordination to operate controls
Must have a valid driver's license.
Able to travel to other locations if needed
Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required
Pre-employment screenings required before being employed by Callanan Industries, Inc.
Preferences
Experience with Quarry operations a plus
Ability to weld
Education/Experience
Extensive experience in truck and/or heavy equipment maintenance and repair, including diesels, hydraulic systems and electrical systems
High school graduate or equivalent preferred
Experience with Quarry operations a plus
Welding is preferred but not necessary.
Salary and Benefits:
This position offers a Union rate of $27 per hour.
