    Position summary

    ernship offers hands-on experience working in our quarries, asphalt plants, and on paving projects across Connecticut. Hours and locations will vary, with occasional weekend and night work as needed. The intern will work closely with experienced quality control technicians, supervisors, and other team members to learn how safety, quality, and integrity guide every aspect of our work.

    All Tilcon Connecticut interns are expected to partner with associates and management to support and actively promote safety processes. The Quality Control Intern will report directly to the Quality Control Supervisors and will follow mandatory safety requirements while assisting in various functions of the quality control team.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Duties and Functions)

    • Learn and assist in the safe and efficient performance of quality control activities, reporting any concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner.

    • Participate in collecting, measuring, and testing construction materials, including hot mix asphalt, soils sampling, aggregate sampling, core sampling, density testing, laboratory testing, and mix design preparation.

    • Observe and follow company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environments.

    • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as required by OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.

    • Demonstrate professionalism and a courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, and the public.

    • Arrive at scheduled start times and stay through the end of assigned shifts.

    • Be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, and occasionally at heights.

    • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and company procedures.

    • Assist team members and supervisors with other related tasks as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To participate in this internship successfully, candidates should be eager to learn and capable of performing the tasks outlined above under guidance and training.

    Education/Experience

    • Actively enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Construction Management, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

    • Completion of introductory coursework in construction materials, geology, or engineering principles is preferred.

    • Prior exposure to quality control or construction environments through coursework, projects, or entry-level experience is desirable but not required.

    Work Requirements

    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

    • Detail-oriented with basic math skills.

    • Good verbal and written communication abilities.

    • Willingness to undergo pre-employment screening, including drug testing and "Fit for Work" physical.
