Implement and sustain a positive health, safety and environmental culture through the application of the management systems framework in moderately complex site(s). This includes establishing the short term and long-term strategic plan for the site to foster continual health, safety and environmental Improvement, leading programs, policies and assessments and monitoring performance to ensure compliance with Cummins internal requirements, applicable health, safety and environmental regulations and industry standards.
Builds strong relationships across functions to ensure the organization understands and are accountable for their roles and responsibilities and are committed to driving a positive health, safety and environmental culture. Ensures employees are consulted and given the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures.
Leads hazard identification, environmental aspect identification and risk assessment programs to identify strategic risk improvement opportunities and gaps in health, safety and environmental compliance obligations. Manages planning actions to set targets and objectives for the site and drives actions to completion.
Leads an effective support model throughout the site through training, skills development and internal communications. Develops and manages support content ensuring it is up to date, controlled and available while adhering to data privacy regulations. Interfaces with external regulatory bodies as required with the support of the legal department.
Leads daily health, safety and environmental operations within the site(s) providing subject matter expertise on complex issues, including but not limited to health, safety and environmental compliance, capital and resource management, risk reduction, incident investigation, management of change, contractor safety, emergency preparedness and response, pollution prevention and environmental sustainability.
Drives improvement to health, safety and environmental performance metrics using a risk-based and data-driven approach. Adheres to Cummins internal reporting requirements through approved systems. Evaluates site health, safety and environmental data, legal compliance findings, and internal and external audit results to build a tactical improvement plan. Leads site(s) Health, Safety, Environmental Management Systems review annually in conformance with Cummins internal requirements.
Leads work cross-functionally as required to resolve work-related incidents, non-compliances, non-conformities, corrective and preventive actions driving continual improvement within the site(s).
Coaches and develops direct reports and cross-functional teams based on stakeholder feedback, observations and succession plan needs. Actively seeks opportunities for self-development through professional health, safety and environmental organizations, as a champion of emerging trends.

Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent degree in Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental required. Progress toward Certified Safety Professional (CSP), NEBOSH or similar certification preferred.
Experience
Significant relevant experience required, including management of health, safety and/or environmental ISO Standards required. 5-7 years of experience, 1-2 years management experience.
