    Position summary

    • Manages improvement for the overall effectiveness of one or more functions within a region. Consults and supports processes, capabilities, systems and data for the function aligned to end-to-end value stream performance goals. Partners to drive improvement activities within the function to deliver performance objectives of impacted value streams and improve outcomes for customers. Stays connected within relevant industries to support advancement within the function and position the company for sustainability and growth.
    • Manages by applying the knowledge of Operations Excellence principles and practices as they are applied to Cummins.
    • Manages the creation of functional maturity goals in collaboration with business leaders, other functional leaders and end-to-end process owners.
    • Manages the operations excellence strategy and roadmap to achieve maturity goals.
    • Manages performance metrics for the function that contribute to performance goals of one or more internal value chains or end-to-end processes.
    • Coaches business leaders, other functional leaders to proactively identify real issues and opportunities, develop prioritized improvement initiatives and coach them through to successful implementation.
    • Contributes to appropriate functional talent activities including composition of global position profiles, functional competencies, and functional learning and development needs.
    • Contributes to the development of the functional learning strategy to include experiential learning, networking, professional associations, and formal training courses.
    • Coaches and mentors manufacturing personnel.
    • Acts as the technical expert for one or more manufacturing disciplines.
    • Contributes by utilizing business knowledge and experience to identify growth opportunities for the function to improve outcomes for the customer.
    • Maintains operational knowledge of functionally relevant practices, analytics, governance, and quality, knowing who can help customers
    • Works alongside end to end process owners and operations excellence peers to prioritize continuous improvement efforts for the function.
    • Manages projects in a cross-functional environment and has the ability to lead and influence without authority in matrixed and dotted line teams.
    • Coaches and recommends long term resolutions to systemic manufacturing problems.
    • Leads and/or coaches complex manufacturing issues and provides solutions across the Cummins network.
    • Contributes to improvements that are measurable and significant.
    • Develops and drives standardization for manufacturing.
    • Contributes by engaging with industry experts and peers, conducting research on best practices.
    • Leads and participates in knowledge sharing to develop enterprise subject-matter expertise in one or more functions. Championing and leading continuous and step-change improvement.

    • Extensive relevant work experience required, including manufacturing or manufacturing plant experience, and leadership of a large project or multiple projects.

    • Potential to work remotely at times; primarily on-site; various locations.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
