Placement Student - Materials Science & Engineering

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Supporting new product development teams by assessing best materials to be used in line with Cummins sustainability and quality goals.

• Assisting Cummins in working towards sustainability goals by selecting and validating best materials to achieve demanding functional requirements whilst minimizing environmental impact.

• Manage quality by conducting failure analysis testing on parts to directly inform customer protection actions or supplier quality management actions.

• Collaborating with global internal and external cross-functional stakeholders, understanding initial requirements and presenting conclusions and recommendations following completion of testing.

• Creating new and developing further existing testing processes for materials and components.

• Work on long-term investigative projects on product across the business.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• We are looking for a wide range of candidates studying towards a materials and engineering based degrees.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills with the ability to use your own initiative.

• Ability to analyse and interpret data using applications such as Excel.

• Excellent communication and time management skills with desire to learn.
