    Position summary

    • Supports the Quality Champion or Quality Leader in the advancement of the Cummins Operating System across the business. This includes supporting process management for business results and process optimization, with a focus on enhancing the interfaces between processes.
    • Ensure the organization has implemented the requirements of the current versions of Business Management System standards (i.e., ISO 9001 and TS 16949, the AIAG Core Tools, etc) in a way that supports the achievement of business measures and goal tree objectives.
    • Help develop the action plans for achieving business results, identifying breakdowns in critical processes which result in missed objectives.
    • Provide recognized expertise in the applicable standards (i.e. ISO 9001, TS 16949, etc) to coach business personnel across the various functional areas.
    • Serve as the key communication link between the organization and the BU and Corporate Quality leadership including negotiation of solutions despite differing objectives.
    • Ensure the right key business processes are identified and documented at an appropriate level, including those key to management (for example, Management Review, Internal Audits, Corrective/Preventive Action, and Continuous Improvement), to enable reduction of variation within processes.
    • Facilitate the discovery / discussion / decision of the key processes, as well as driving the documentation by process owners / functional owners in support of business strategies and tactics.
    • Promote process ownership among leadership, including their descriptions of the interactions between their processes (i.e. Process Mgmt Control Plans - SIPOCs, turtle diagrams, etc) as contained in the business management system manual.
    • Ensure an effective management review process is installed in the organization focused on continuous improvement relative to specific customer requirements and other goal tree objectives and measures.
    • Maintain the Business Management System (Quality) manual. This manual will include the scope of the management system, the documented procedures or reference to them, and a description of the interactions between the processes of the management system.
    • Manage the internal audit program and resulting process for continuous improvement.
    • Serve as the point of contact for and manage 2nd & 3rd Party audit activities and their output, including Business Management System certification as well as managing the quality and timeliness of responses to the registrar.
    • Oversee development and delivery of quality systems related education.
    • Promote the use of the standard Cummins Quality Mangement Systems (CQMS), including serving as central point of contact for the business and the liaison with BU and Corporate Quality for implementation, education and use.
    • BU / ABO Level Additional Responsibilities:
    • Mentor and develop Plant level Quality Leaders on process quality responsibilities.
    • Tie together audit findings, corrective/preventive actions across plants/business to drive common solutions, minimize duplication.
    • Strengthen alignment with business (processes, initiatives, communication).
    • Promote process ownership among leadership, including their descriptions of the interactions between their processes (i.e. Process Mgmt Control Plans - SIPOCs, turtle diagrams, etc) as contained in the business management system manual.
    • Support Quality Champions in guiding Functional Excellence Leaders at the BU/ABO level. Quality Functional Excellence leader for BU/ABO. Identify skill gaps for Quality Function roles and support training needs.
    • Perform a ‘Quality System Manager’ role for the central functions/processes of the BU/ABO.
    • Maintain the BU or ABO Business Management System (Quality) manual.
    • Ensure maintenance of BU/ABO-level Management Systems procedures (across functions).

    • Quality Leadership (Cummins Operating System) - Demonstrates knowledge of the Cummins Operating System, quality management systems by applying the ten practices to assess business segment and functional performance, set strategy aligned with business needs and create consistency of purpose for continuously improving products, processes, services; enables data driven decision making and removes barriers to enable individuals to have line of sight to the customer; uses metrics to drive continuous improvement.
    • Quality System Management - Guides in the practice and application of quality management system standards required by international certification bodies, industry specific regulatory authorities and customer's contractually specified requirements.
    • Schedule Management - Manages the project schedule using the recommended project management tools and processes to drive completion within the agreed timeline.

    Education, Licenses, Certifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience
    • Certified Green Belt or higher; Certified Black Belt preferred.
    • Internal Auditor Certification
    • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
