Position summary

We are looking for a talented Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team specializing in sales for our #NewPower Business Unit in Mississauga, Ontario. 

  • Obtains input and negotiates with Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) stakeholders to define technical requirements and delivers an optimized subsystem-based analytical and experimental verification plan to the program or project team.
  • Makes decisions in the areas of verification and validation that impact product performance, reliability, and durability.
  • Investigates and addresses potential system concerns or issues, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members.
  • Applies and improves processes such as technical requirements, iDFMEA, Engineering Standard Work (ESW), DVP&R optimization, test standards, and problem solving and tools such as Integrity, Microsoft Power BI, and McParts required to support the processes and enable high quality decision making.
  • Provides independent leadership of smaller business impact projects or ownership of complex components, products, systems or services with greater elements of ambiguity over the senior or lead engineer level and with full accountability to the project team.
  • Delivers independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge.
  • Leads the development and improvement of work processes and systems across a functional discipline area within a business unit site.
  • Coordinates and directs work amongst technicians and temporary student employees, assists in the transfer of knowledge to lesser experienced engineers through either indirect (scope of influence) or direct management of a small, local group of engineers.
  • Provides support and guidance to influence technical direction within a project team and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
  • Operates as a recognized specialist in a discipline or product area within the immediate team.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Experience in the field of validation testing such as: shock and vibration, dyno testing & environmental testing. 
  • Experience in “hands-on” development of electromechanical prototypes and fixtures.
  • Experience with electromechanical systems such as:  pumps, blowers, sensors, valves and compressors.
  • Knowledge of data acquisition systems (DAQ), including associated DAQ sensors such as thermocouples and pressure transducers.
  • Participate in new fuel cell systemdevelopment, assist in improvement / optimization of electrical and mechanicalsub-systems for the product.
  • Identify and implement electro-mechanical engineering changes for improved manufacturability, cost reduction, and improved quality for product.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, P&ID, bills of material and technical specifications, etc.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills combined with analytical skills.
