    We are looking for a talented VPI SYSTEMS LEAD to join our team specializing in MANUFACTURING for our BUSINESS SEGMENT in Mineral Point, WI.

    In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

    • Under minimal supervision and in accordance with Cummins Delegation of Authority, determines the quantity and order date for materials needed to support complex business processes such as supersessions, new product launches, campaigns, HAZMAT, No Source, dual source, and E&O.
    • Performs quality checks on material planning master data (lead time, order quantities, etc.) taking action to support Plan for Every Part (PFEP).
    • Manages part change requests and ramp up / ramp down activities to meet global aftermarket demand while minimizing global excess and obsolete inventory.
    • Collaborates with Product Management to set initial stocking level for VPI/NPI P&L introductions, and ensures part readiness to meet target launch date.
    • Works with Purchasing and other support teams to properly set up local/dual sourced parts
    • Executes Planning parameter review and improvement work within the Function

    To be successful in this role you will need the following:

    • Materials KPI Management - Operates in relation to recent or historical outputs as compared to expectations of the organization to determine next steps to drive improvement; assesses gaps to the supply chain performance against the expectation of achieving target deliverables; interprets KPIs to understand end-customer impact; strategically balances trade-offs to influence one KPI while minimizing the impact to others.
    • Materials Master Data Management - Determines the source of master data (bill-of-material, disposition code, planner code, etc.) ensuring changes are updated at the origin rather than downstream system(s); tracks, monitors, and improves the quality of master data feeding into the demand and supply plan.
    • ​Materials Planning System Utilization - Uses the materials planning system to manage supply and demand plans taking long-term corrective action on exception messages and other alerts based on root cause analysis; occasionally refers to adhoc tools such as Excel, Access, TOAD, OMS, etc. in performing problem solving, while leveraging the materials planning system as the primary tool in day-to-day operations.
    • ​Part Change Control Management - Evaluates and implements engineering change request (obsolescence, supersessions, new part release, etc.) to meet customer delivery requirements while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.

    Education, Licenses, Certifications

    High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
    This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

    Experience

    Requires significant work experience and in-depth knowledge obtained through specialized training and relevant experience.

    • Leads the setup and system configuration for prototype builds.
    • Leads a team of associates that are responsible for accurate orders, prints and BOMs for prototype builds.
    • Accountable for VPI systems accuracy at the shop. Acts as a backup for the team members’ responsibilities.
    • Acts as CMP voice during program core team discussions and resolve build issues with external stakeholders.
    • Works with external stakeholders to ensure prototype shop has correct prints and BOMs.
    • Uses the input from VPI scheduler to ensure no operations downtime due to prints or materials availability.
    • Voice of Plant VPI in discussions with Technical and Engineering.
    • Leads smooth config hand-off from VPI to production and provides support during infant care.
    • Communicates systems readiness for scheduled prototype orders with internal stakeholders.
    • Applies manufacturing knowledge in sequencing and prioritizing work to ensure customer success.
    • Actively participates in continuous improvement efforts in VPI processes.
    • Remains flexible and performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to meet business goals.
    • Comfortable working with incomplete information and problem-solve in order to meet customer requirement.
    • Complies with HSE standards, policies, procedures & regulations.Performs other duties as directed by the Supervisor/Manager.

    Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
