As a Database administrator, you will be responsible in providing support for multiple database technologies like Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift, AWS RDS, AWS Athena and activities related to the Database architecture and operations of the Cloud platform operating on Amazon Web Services (AWS). To be successful, you must understand thoroughly about other flavors of the DB’s functionalities and work upon fulfilling the database requests. In addition, you must have the ability to understand and work on discipline to work and succeed in a fast-paced and organizationally complex environment, effectively adapt to rapidly changing methods and technologies, lead and manage the databases.
o Architect and deploy database solutions in a multitenant cloud/EC2/RDS environments
o Manage the architecture and operational support of the databases on AWS Cloud
o Assess and facilitate database requests which includes DB access, Parameter changes, performing refresh activities etc.
o Ensure the Client database services is kept operational with high availability and minimal downtime
o Design and implement backup strategies for performing DB backups to S3 bucket.
o Perform Full database/PTR recoveries as per the application requirement
o Perform switchover and failover activities for DR-drills
o Planning and implementing homogeneous/heterogeneous migrations of the databases from On-prem to Cloud
o Research and evaluate database tools to improve the performance of the databases for faster access and retrieval of the data on AWS
o Assess and respond to DB related incidents
o Work with respective Application owners/groups to ensure proper database security standards are being followed for client projects and solutions
o Applying the patches on the databases in regular intervals as per the security compliance.
o Develop and maintain documentation on Database inventory, Capacity Utilization of the resources
o Bachelor-level degree in engineering, IT, data communications, telecommunications, computer science, or equivalent educational or professional experience and/or qualifications
o At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in Database administration
o Experience with designing and deploying database migration strategies in large cloud and virtualized environments
o Good experience in troubleshooting database management and performance issues.
o Experience in database technologies like Oracle, MS SQL and AWS DB services like RDS, Amazon Aurora, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Athena.
o Expert knowledge in the architecture and deployment of database technologies (RDS, Redshift, ElastiCache etc.)
o Experience around database maintenance and monitoring to monitor the performance and availability of the DB’s using tools such as Data Dog, CloudWatch etc.
o Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and issue-management skills in a multi-platform environment
o Demonstrated experience interpreting project requirements and working with clients to develop customized solutions
o Excellent oral and written communication ability; must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
o AWS certification is an added advantage
o Experience in handling databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, ElastiCache
o Experience in implementing Auto-scaling to the DB’s for handling incoming requests to the DB and avoiding the downtime
o Good experience in Performance Tuning for faster data access and retrieval
o AWS DMS, EC2, RedShift, Amazon Aurora, Auto-scaling, Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Athena, ElastiCache, Database Performance Tuning, S3 Bucket, Elastic Block Storage (EBS), Elastic File System(EFS), High Availability, DR-Drill(Switch-overs, Fail-overs)
