Position summary
TechOps Technology and Innovation Engineering (TIE) team at Delta TechOps seeks a Data Modeler to design, develop & implementation of Data Warehouse database structures and Analytical Database structures. The data modeler will work with business groups and development teams to design data models to develop complex data platforms, business solutions, and proofs of concept to enable insights and decision-making leveraging AWS technologies including S3, S3 Parquet, Glue, Redshift, EMR, Apache Airflow, EventBridge, RDS, DynamoDB, and Lambda. The data modeler will use DataOps methodology, collaborate with engineers, data scientists, analysts, project teams, and other colleagues to translate data-driven insights into actions and decisions.
Delta Air Lines is transforming and modernizing applications from a predominantly on-premises environment to the cloud. We are looking for a data modeler to join us in our cloud journey and be part of the entire SDLC from inception to production deployment.

Summary of Responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks).
- Analyzing and translating business needs into long-term solution data models
- Working with the development team to create conceptual data models and data flows
- Evaluating existing data systems
- Evaluating implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency
- Reviewing modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility
- Developing best practices for data coding to ensure consistency within the system
- Proposing and Implementing data strategies and developing physical data models
- Work proactively and independently to address project requirements and articulate issues/challenges to reduce project delivery risks
- Working experience with data modeling tools and code repository (git) tools.
- Experience in a modern scripting language
- Experience running queries against data
- Experience in predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis
- Experience with data visualization software
- Experience utilizing statistical techniques to identify key insights that help solve business problems
- Basic knowledge or exposure to Prescriptive Modeling like optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search or NLP
- Good to have SQL server, AWS Redshift, Athena services and Jenkins experience
