Expert Applications Architect

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Expert Applications Architect will be responsible for the design and analysis of software projects, coordination, creation and socialization of the conceptual approach document on strategic business initiatives, documentation standards, system architecture best practices and current system architecture documentation for their respective domain. The position is also responsible for collaborating with partner teams, enterprise architecture and development teams on best practices, guidelines and standards as well as evangelizing Technology transformation initiatives. This position is responsible for providing expertise and direction to Leadership when discussing strategic projects, design and application initiatives as well as providing high level estimates for the purpose of business case creation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs complex systems analysis and solution design on software applications

• Performs coordination, creation and socialization of the conceptual approach document for new business initiatives

• Collaborates with the enterprise architecture and development teams to assure strategy alignment and utilize common components where applicable within the application.

• Acts as an expert technical mentor to other members of the development teams and business users.

• Understands normal business constraints (resources, budget, and legacy technology) and actively develop creative solutions within this framework to address these limitations.

• Participates and leads in code reviews to identify errors in the development phase that will lessen product vulnerabilities as well as improve the quality of the software.

• Assists with deep technical problem determination during system outage events and work with operational team to quickly evaluate and implement resolution paths.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree

• 8+ years of technical/functional design experience related to application implementation and software development

• 5+ years of experience with software design/development resulting in strong knowledge of the application framework

• 5+ years of active development and implementation experience

• 5+ years of experience in the Dental Insurance/Healthcare industry

• Knowledgeable about cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• Familiar with DevOps practices and tools such as Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes and Ansible

• Deep understanding of various programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, and C#. Familiar with popular frameworks and libraries like .NET, Spring, Django and Node.js

• Expert level technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation

• Expert level knowledge in Object Oriented Design.

• Experience with Agile Development and working with offshore teams.

• Exceptional communication skills.

• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

• Excellent documentation skills including conceptual, logical and physical diagrams

• Preferred: Experience designing and implementing a continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipeline, automate software testing and manage infrastructure as code

• Preferred: Strong understanding of software security principles, best practices, and standards. Design secure software systems, conduct security audits and implement security controls.

• Preferred: Experience designing and implementing database schemas, optimize database performance and ensure data security

• Preferred: Design and deployed applications on the cloud, leverage cloud services and optimize the cloud infrastructure

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $105,000- $226,100
