    Position summary

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    We are looking for an Expert Applications Architect with exceptional design and architecture chops for our Enterprise Billing & Payments domain. This position collaborates with and provides architectural leadership to a team of very talented and high performing software engineers building the Enterprise Billing & Payments Platform - this consists of both home-grown applications as well as off the shelf pre-built solutions that supports all of Delta Dental of California (DDC) and its affiliates.

    The Expert Applications Architect will be responsible for the design and analysis of software projects, coordination, creation, and socialization of the conceptual approach document on strategic business initiatives, documentation standards, system architecture best practices and documentation for the enterprise Billing domain. The architect should have deep understanding of Billing and Payment solutions and will be the leader providing architectural oversight for all related billing systems.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Be a Leader - Own the architecture and design of enterprise Billing applications. Be the enabler and champion for the team and help your team build sustainable and strong relationships across functions, including platform engineering, UX and product management

    • Own The Outcome - Own stability of billing applications how they fit in the overall technical landscape, seamlessly integrated with other enterprise applications. Provide pragmatic solutions within business and technology constraints

    • Drive for Results - Partner with Product Management, Enterprise Architecture and Engineering and be a key contributor towards roadmap, application architecture, capacity, and resource planning to ensure efficient delivery of quality product

    • Continually develop tech skills - Keep abreast with the latest trends in billing and payment domains and incorporate the same into your architectural output

    • Perform complex systems analysis and solution design on Billing & Payments platform and software applications within organization to help design business processes.

    • Collaborate with the enterprise architecture and development teams to identify new tools and technologies, assure strategy alignment, and utilize common components where applicable within the application.

    • Compile and implement application development plans for new or existing applications.

    • Lead specific efforts focused on improving resiliency, performance, and/or additional operational controls.

    • Assist with deep technical problem determination during system outage events and work with operational team to quickly evaluate and implement resolution paths.

    • Act as an expert technical mentor to other members of the development and business teams. Be the coach, mentor, architect and provide the team with functional and technical guidance when needed on proposed solutions.

    • Ensure adherence to Enterprise Application architecture, Security architecture and collaborates with those teams on the proposed solutions.

    • Promotes innovation, instills passion for delivering, and empowers teams to achieve high performance.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 10+ years of technical/functional design experience related to Billing & Payments application implementation and software development.

    • 5+ years of experience with software design/development resulting in strong knowledge of the application framework.

    • Highly proficient in programming constructs such as, APIs and Micro Services, Java, Spring, Node, API Gateways, Databases (SQL as well No SQL), distributed cache, Azure/AWS etc.

    • Strong experience with data integration technologies, exposing and consuming APIs to and from external applications.

    • Experience with modern UI stack and application development such as node.js, React etc.

    • Experience in Oracle RMB is a big plus.

    • Expert level technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design, and implementation.

    • Expertise on architecture principles around implementation and supporting finance function with knowledge on SDLC environments, multi-tenancy, security, monitoring and management, multi-tiered infrastructure, databases, integration, mobile and application servers etc.

    • Experience with security technologies such as OAuth2, JWT etc. and writing secure externally consumable APIs.

    • Experience with TDD using tools such as jUnit, TestNG, or any related technology.

    • Excellent problem solving and documentation skills including conceptual, logical and physical diagrams.

    • Knowledge of systems development life cycle, including the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple initiatives and deliverables utilizing SAFe Agile, SCRUM or other appropriate development methodologies.

    • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal across all levels management, to evangelize new and radical ideas, technologies, and influence organization along with building long lasting partnerships.

    Base Pay Information

    The national base pay range is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $105,000 - $226,100
