The Indirect Tax SME is responsible for the process re-design and change management to address the tax compliance related gaps identified by tax compliance process checks and analysis. Focus will also be on finding efficiency and standardisation opportunities and execution.
About the role
• Identifies process gaps and drives efficiency opportunities towards a more robust global model.
• Provides Tax Technical support primarily to the tax compliance teams;
• Provides compliance related support to the Local Tax Business Partners;
• Proactively works with indirect tax teams to ensure E2E processes are compliant;
• Identifies and escalates issues and risks to the Regional Tax Compliance leads;
• Identifies risk and opportunities and performs related analysis and shares it with key and senior stakeholders;
• Feeds tax knowledge and support projects as needed.
Drive resolution of process/control/system gaps diagnosed by any project or analysis
Drive resolution of known inefficiencies in tax compliance processes with implementing automation where possible
Design processes within Tax and in the enabling process areas in a way, to ensure correct and accurate input is provided for Tax upstream
Provide support in indirect tax related advisory topics as necessary.
Working closely with tax seniors, compliance teams and SME-s and actively support Tax Managers to ensure compliance with market specific regulatory requirements and legislative changes
Supporting any regular and ad hoc tax governance related reporting activities.
Proactively identify GAPs in the processes and help to design new processes to mitigate those.
What you'll bring
Ideally minimum 3-4 years' relevant tax experience in SSC and/or FMCG/Big 4 advisory environment
Experience at an operational level with VAT or C&Ex or Environmental Tax
Experience in working with indirect tax supporting tools
Experience with transitions and project management is a plus
College/university degree in finance/accounting
Strong process and tax technical understanding at an operational level in VAT / C&Ex / Environmental tax
Experience with Indirect tax automation/SAP is desirable
Flexibility for adopting to change with positive attitude
Excellent communication skills to be able to build strong relationships with operational staff and stakeholders
Strong risk management skills, ability to follow-up/flag potential issues
