    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    High-level job responsibilities:

    • We’re growing our Business Development team by adding a new leader; the Director of Business Development & Partner Management. 
    • This individual will be responsible for the strategy and execution of Sling’s partnership-driven growth plans, with the primary responsibility of identifying, justifying,  and executing new business opportunities, both within Sling’s existing partner landscape and in new spaces.
    • This role will be responsible for leading teams focused on deal execution and partner management for Sling across all industry partnerships:  distribution, platform, product and sponsorships. 
    • Within this scope, the Director of Business Development will work hand in hand with leaders on Sling’s product and marketing teams in identifying, vetting, and negotiating new partners that help grow Sling’s engagement and user base.
    • This person will help optimize our current device platform environments by setting the strategy, objectives and plan for Sling’s partner management team.  The Director will lead this team at a high level with deals, renewals, and new business opportunities.
    • To optimize our effectiveness, this role will require strong collaboration across all internal teams - including marketing, product development, strategy, operations legal, and finance -  focusing collective efforts on key activities such as renewals, new opportunities, and key partner integrations (e.g. Amazon, Roku, Google, Apple, etc.).

    Day-to-day job responsibilities:

    • Create and oversee a deal pipeline.

    • Identify and evaluate opportunities around new businesses and extensions of existing businesses with a focus on growth and engagement.

    • Lead and grow existing team focused on partner/platform management and business affairs.

    • Build and onboard new team resources focused on new business opportunities across industry touchpoints: distribution, product, marketing and sponsorships.

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams throughout the lifecycle of key partnerships and push objectives across the organization.

    • Create and deliver deal analyses, investment recommendations, partner overviews, and presentations.

    • Communicate status of deals continuously.

    • Build, mentor, and maintain a high-performing team.

    Skills, Experience and Requirements

    High-level qualifications:

    • Exceptional business development skills and experience.
    • Solid understanding of OTT technology and landscape.
    • Ability to cultivate and build strong relationships with new and existing partners and industry counterparts. 
    • Analyze market opportunities and identify partners who can exploit those opportunities.
    • Solid cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to build consensus among teams (executive leadership, product, engineering, marketing, finance). 
    • Strong strategic presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    Professional Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in business or related field. MBA or JD preferred.
    • 10+ years of business development and contract negotiation experience.
    • 5+ years of experience working on streaming platform product roadmaps and integrations.  Industry experience in both streaming and mobile platform environments is strongly preferred.
    • A minimum of 5 years experience in negotiating OTT and/or mobile deals and/or content acquisition deals.
    • A minimum of 7 years experience in team management.
    • A strong understanding of the OTT industry.
    • Willingness to travel (~50% annually).
    • Ideally strategy and business model development background.

    Salary Range

    Compensation: $175,000.00/Year - $225,000.00/Year

    The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
