    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    DISH Wireless is looking for a Field Engineering Operations Manager with people-management abilities to help build our 5G network. The Field Engineering Operations Manager will be accountable for integration readiness, site security and network operational aspects of the radio network for Dish Wireless.  The Operations Manager will have strong knowledge of the operational requirements of the market and use this knowledge to inform management about the ongoing requirements in the market.  The role will bear responsibility for the network’s in-service metrics and accessibility by Dish’s customers.  They will manage the field engineers and operational support staff in these markets, along with ensuring the supporting vendors are prepared in the event of a network incident.  Additionally, the Field Engineering Operations Manager will ensure that all build complete network nodes are integration ready, stable and impairment free during all phases of network launch. This role will require some travel in the market geography. 

    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Provide oversight and direction for the operation of the network, including maintaining desired staffing levels

    • Leadership of a diverse team of professionals located within the designated market which includes resource planning, performance management, organizational development, succession planning, etc.

    • Management oversight of vendor partnerships that provide operational, integration related and maintenance support

    • Guidance for both short- and long-term network functionality and operational management practices

    • Development of operational policies and processes that allow the team to provide best in class network services

    • Overall management of the deployed radio network, its maintenance, well-being and necessary upgrades when required

    • Communicate status and issues at various levels of the organization in a clear and concise manner, including support to the National Operations team when and if needed

    • Ensure site integration readiness of the wireless network through site inspections, alarm verification and application of necessary software releases as needed in coordination with National Operations and RF Engineering teams

    • Anticipate technical and tactical challenges and develop contingency plans for network operations events, force majeure events, natural disasters for man made challenges such as site vandalism

    • Establish strong rapport within team members, support national practices that drive employee engagement and productivity

    • Work with the region/national operational team in review of expenses; manage expenses and budgets to maximize margins and achieve targeted financial objectives

    • Coordinate with regional teams for projected need for additional project support as workload requires

    Skills, Experience and Requirements

    The successful Field Operations Manager will have:

    • 10 + years Wireless Network Operations experience; especially in wireless infrastructure and large scale programs

    • 5+ years in progressively broader manager roles, leading multiple groups, departments, and teams

    • The ability to thrive in a start-up environment with significant ambiguity and challenging problems inherent in building a greenfield, stand-alone 5G network

    • Executive presence with strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

    Salary Range

    Compensation: $76,300.00/Year
