Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Engineer – Software for the DISH IT -Supply Chain team will produce exciting, forward-thinking, high-performing Java backend implementations of applications including enterprise class customer-facing functionality for various departments at DISH that support our drive to deliver the best experience possible.

The position of Senior Engineer – Software requires the theoretical and practical application of a highly specialized knowledge in software and application development. The nature of analytical and highly technical tasks that the Senior Engineer must perform requires to possess skills that are usually associated with the attainment of at least a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related field, or the equivalent in education and work experience.

• Develop all day, every day with a focus on Java 8, J2EE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, ReactJS and Javascript.

• Design and create code within a test driven-development programming environment.

• Work in fast paced, collaborative team environment using agile methodology principles.

• Act as a technical mentor and coach to less experienced developers.

• Work with other teams (outside and across the company) to gather requirements, understand expectations and present solutions.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

A successful Senior Java Engineer will have:

• Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university and 5+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree is a plus.
• Solid understanding of programming algorithms and data structures.
• Object-oriented system design and development experience preferably with JAVA 8.
• Experience working with open source frameworks like Spring Batch, MVC and Spring Boot.
• Prior web services development experience with SOAP and REST services.
• Experience in test driven development and frameworks such as Mockito, Cucumber, rSpec.
• Good Understanding of relational and non-relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server, NoSQL).
• Experience with version control systems such as SVN and Git.
• Good understanding of the CI/CD and devOps principles.
• Strong Desire to learn with a “can do” attitude.

Nice to haves: 

• Experience with full stack technologies such as ReactJS and AngularJS.

• Familiarity with scripting, caching and cloud technologies such as CloudFoundry/AWS.

Salary Range

Compensation: $87,500.00/Year - $125,000.00/Year
