From sustainability to Energy Transition to the Electrification, the in Hengelo site is currently linked to all of these from a manufacturing standpoint, as in Hengelo we design and bring to life the next generation of medium - voltage switchgear power equipment.
The primary function of the job is within the Customer Order Engineering (COE) team and reports into the Team Leader. There are 4 engineering functions organized within the COE team; Electrical Engineering & Application Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Work preparation.
In this role, you will be responsible for customer design activities pertaining to Medium-Voltage Metal-enclosed Switchgear MMS and Xiria NGX switchgear assemblies, creating high quality custom designed assemblies at a minimum cost while meeting and exceeding customer requirements, in accordance with all applicable codes and standards.
In addition, you will define and implement improvements that improve the efficiency of the Custom Order Engineering team, and provide applied engineering and technical consultation with regard to the design and specifications of custom-made applications, necessary safety precautions and calculations during the RFQ (Request for Quotation).
Key responsibilities:
Technical review of project documentation. Interpret specs and customer inquiries and design technical proposals and cost estimation for customers.
Provide applied engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of complete power distribution system design, protection & control design, or upgrades, installation, testing, maintenance, repair and training, solutions relating to increase safety, reliability, or efficiency.
Review electrical diagrams and factory drawing packages.
Provide specialized technical support for commissioning and testing of electrical installations, including programming and FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and if desired SAT (Site Acceptance test) on location world-wide, of electronic protective relays and control equipment.
Analyze failures based on customer information and advices on solutions.
Document all activities, data and information in line with procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Proven expertise in Switchgear Design and Manufacturing processes.
Proficient in using Elcad and Eplan schematic design tools.
Hands-on experience in PLC programming using software packages such as Codesys, Galileo, FactoryTalk, and protection relay configuration.
Solid understanding of network protocols, including: Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, IEC 61850.
Familiarity with testing, diagnostics, and repair tools and methodologies.
Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and (inter)national standards, including IEC standards.
Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including sales and technical teams, in multiple languages.
Preferred: Application expertise in Medium Voltage Power Distribution, control systems, power transformers, batteries, protection systems, grounding, and substation design.
Self-starter with a proactive mindset, committed to continuous improvement. Able to work collaboratively with management, learn quickly, and adapt to new systems and tools.
Fluent in Dutch and English.
