Eaton's AER FED Fluid Electrical Distribution division is currently seeking a Lead Engineer.
What you'll do:
Primary Function
Manages High Performance Engineering Teams and guide their efforts towards implementation and compliance of the Mfg Engineering Strategy, adherence to Training and Development Plans.
Ensures Manufacturing Process Capability and define the proper Process Controls to meet Product Manufacturability Requirements.
Mentor and Develop Sr Manufacturing and Jr Manufacturing Engineers to achieve the Expertise level required aligned to Individual development plans and Manufacturing Processes Management assigned to everyone.
Ensure New Product Development is performed following the current Engineering Policies and procedures, including ProLaunch Methodology, Manufacturing Process Compliance and Control.
Coordinate with Multifunctional teams and staff members to achieve organizational goals, transition plans and project schedules on time and budget.
The position drives continuous improvement while utilizing the framework of the Eaton Business System (EBS) and the Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF).
Essential Functions
Able to confer with Design Engineering on manufacturability and testability of new products and bring new products into Manufacturing:
a. Ability to understand manufacturing process (machining, welding, painting & stamping) and be able to interact with Design Engineers in technical discussions around these processes.
b. Ability to tailor process development around expected volume and duration of the product.
c. Possesses a good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance usage.
d. Familiarity with New Product Introduction project management systems.
e. Capable of estimating costing on new products at various stages of Design completion.
f. Evaluates/Selects tooling and equipment supplies. Writes capital justification requests.
Develops, evaluates, and improve manufacturing methods, including tooling, fixtures and processes.
Analyzes and plans, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment for maximum efficiency.
Confers with material planner to assure identification of unique, long lead time, special handling or high-cost items to assure appropriate measures will be taken prior to production startup.
Develops and analyzed statistical data and product/process performance to recommend and implement improvements in targeted areas
Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Develops, implements, and audits inspection and test plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures/work instructions.
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications
Understands AS9100, Nadcap and Industry Normativity requirements
Qualifications:
Basic qualifications
• 5 to 7 years of experience
• Engineering Degree
• Bilingual English/ Spanish (preferred)
• Understanding of problem-solving methods (Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis)
• Knowledge of industry and customer specific quality registration schemes and certification processes (ISO9001, AS9100)
• Deep Knowledge of manufacturing Metal Mechanic type process, auditing techniques to ensure compliance to defined quality requirements
• Detail Oriented
Preferred Specialized Knowledge
• Green belt certified is a plus
• Previous Aerospace experience preferred.
