We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join the Security Machine Learning team. This is a front-line engineering manager role for the team that is responsible for building machine learning pipelines, Analyzing/improving current features, researching and developing new security ML-backed features and improving capabilities of the Elastic Security platform.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Managing, mentoring and leading a globally distributed team of experienced engineers
• Leading the efficient delivery for time-boxed software releases, ensuring high quality and innovative feature development
• Building roadmaps and lead prioritization; balance the right amount of structure and planning for a fast-paced engineering team, with a security focus.
• Working with our Product Management and Security Leadership team to ensure requirements and the “why” are clear
• Fostering a culture of mutual respect and collaborative decision-making
• Promoting knowledge sharing with team, organization and community
• Supporting development and training through regular coaching and performance evaluations
• Discovering staffing requirements and help drive recruitment of high quality colleagues

What You Bring Along:

• An understanding of security core concepts including threat detection and/or security
• Prior experience designing and implementing security focused Machine Learning models, and features.
• A passion for Security threat analysis, and detection engineering
• Experience leading distributed teams (~6 people)
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills
• Collaborative style, open communicator, distributed experience
• Self-motivated, good attention to detail and highly organized
• Your heart in the right place, a good sense of humor and a genuine interest in the people you work with

Experience in some of the following areas would be ideal:

• Elastic Machine Learning Stack experience
• Experience with Python and Java
• SaaS experience (AWS, GCP)
• Distributed systems design and development
• Speaking/presenting at tech conferences

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary. This role does not have a variable compensation component.

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below.

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

$126,800—$200,560 USD

The typical salary range for this role in the select locations listed above is:

$152,200—$240,810 USD
