    Position summary

    Job Description:

    Develops new or modified process formulations, defines processing or handling equipment requirements and specifications, and reviews processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of med-device products. Involvement may begin at any step from pilot planning to full-scale manufacturing. Coordinates process requirement review with appropriate engineering/scientific personnel to ensure compatibility of processing methods, upstream and downstream. Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process specifications. May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts, equipment, automation technology, and approaches within the processing or development of new or improved processes. Wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Typically requires a degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience.

    • Essence of this role is to bring clarity and focus to early stages of internal and external processes, following through process lifecycles, and ensuring long term continuity of the process lifecycle through continuous improvements.
    • Responsible for the translation of OpEx expectations from senior management into fully realized manufacturing projects.
    • Provide leadership in the delivery of process solutions.
    • Provide strategic technical input to the long-range planning process.
    • Participate in the identification and resolution of inter-project issues.
    • Ensure understanding of all quality system requirements and expectations as related to changes in process and manufacturing processes.
    • Provide coaching to other engineers, assist in project planning, task scheduling, resource allocations, and departmental budgets.
    • Must be able to write detailed program requirements, generate and review program documentation, and work within the framework of medical device regulations.
    • Must have the ability to work well with a variety of individuals ranging from engineering, marketing, clinical, regulatory, operations, and senior management.
    • Must demonstrate business acumen, be able to drive program definitions, and make trade-offs with other organizational needs.
    • Must maintain a professional, credible image with consultants, vendors, and co-workers.
    • Must demonstrate knowledge of orthopedic medical device manufacturing processes including, but not limited to processes of machining, applied coatings, mass finishing, cleaning, passivation, packaging, and sterilization.
    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to work in a team environment, strong collaboration skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must have a minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Biomedical)
    • Must have 5+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing processes and supply chain logistics.
    • Must have 5+ years of experience in FDA regulated industry.
